2618 yes,we are going.

just booked the ferry crossing,[speedferries 100 notes]so we are definatly
going out this year, after we were unable to go last year[only second time in
12 years not able to go] we like to wing it so to speak, and as we are not going to be spending anytime on a holiday park[something we like to do,to
see other regions]our agenda has room.
rome is on the agenda,as its our fav city.
as we will be based at our campania address, san bat in galdo,a couple of
day trips will be on the agenda.
now we are nearer to cambobasso and foggia then naples so......dare i say
it,puglia or molise are so much nearer 2 or 3 miles! and as we know our way
round the gargano, some where different would be appealing.
we already have a couple of days mapped out at the seaside, so really we
are looking at places with more than sea and sand, and daytrips means
no more that 200km eachway.
hope some of you have ideas, and please i am not looking to invade.

on our way home, we usually go up the A14, and maywell go to martin sicuro
[aunt and uncle] and san marino for a afternoon[we usually make the swiss
border for the night]but again nothing is set in stone, and we do usually have
a good afternoon spare,so any hidden jems along this route would be
welcomed.......
we travel out on aug 17, so as to be able to see the large feast in san bat
on the days around the 24th,and will be heading back on the weekend of
the 2/3rd of september, so to miss the mad rush north the weekend b4.

there i feel much more human now..........can almost feel the sun on my face
again........:)

If you are taking the Bologna - Roma route you pass within 10 minutes of us at Prato and it would be a pleasure to invite you in for something to wet your whistle.

thats a very nice offer thanks, you are just of the A1 are you not? just above
firenze? i love the area, we have stayed some 40km south of you at figline
valdarno,on many occassions over the last 10 odd years.96,97,98,2001,2002
2004, i think. it was our base for exploring tuscany a large holiday park
with everthing........alas we will be going up to bologna via the A14 so it
would be alot more than a short detour. but if the offer holds,we have not
decided on our route down through italy yet,as again we rush to get to italy
but once there,we do slow down and try to make the journey more pleasurable.......
thank you again for your invitation............must start reading up on prato...:)

it sure looks that way:)

Giovanni,
we're doing the same as you and taking the car this year. Having checked out the flight costs for 6 of us, plus the cost of renting a car for the holiday period and then finding out how little the ferry costs, we've decided on the latter. We're off tonight to pick up a huge dome tent we've bought and intend spending a week traveling slowly down, spending two weeks at the house doing jobs and then a week travelling back. If you were passing us we would have certainly got the old bbq lit but alas we shall be on our way back by this time you get to Puglia, spending a couple of night with my parents in France. Like you, cant wait even though I'm off there week after next, the idea of a months holiday is fantastic.

a months holiday,already....only way i get a break is to have a couple of days off sick..
i'm sure you have looked into it, but do remember the alpine routes at this
time of year, could be tricky.... if it does get a little cold remember formula 1
and etap? hotel chains in france, less than 14 euros a night and sleep 3.

No, we're not driving over yet, we're over next week via Mr Ryanair for a week and then we'll be driving mid July coming back mid August. Don't mind camping, love the outdoors. We did have a caravan for years until we bought the villa so this will a great adventure for the kids especially the two little one who haven't had any camping experience yet...:)
