2631 Hello everyone!

Hello to all!

It’s been a while since I’ve been dipping into the forum, and I must say have found it to be entertaining and useful and so finally I decided to take the plunge and join!
My experience with Italy has been one of ‘amore-odio’.
I’m half Italian and have more or less been living here since 1989 – give or take a couple of years from 2000 to 2002 when I attempted a return to the UK, but there was just too much tugging at the heart to contemplate remaining there for good. So it was back to Italian soil.
I have had an interesting and eye-opening time living in various Italian realities, from Milan, Piacenza, a village in the Piacentini Appenines and now in the province of Modena.

Being half Italian, as a child I spent many summer holidays here, up in the Appenines. Compared to the rather grey and artificially coloured London of the 70’s and 80’s it really was an incredibly liberating experience. Everything here was more intense, smells, colours, food, the light, the laughter….the list is endless!

Reading the forum it’s encouraging to see that I’m not alone in my thoughts ;)

Hello Emilia, welcome to our forum, im sure you will find lots of intresting topics, I see you are living in Modena at this present time, we visit there quite often as we go to Maranello because I am a big Ferrari fan, at one time we were considering finding a house there in the beautiful part of Castelvetro as thats where we stay when visiting the Ferrari factory, however found it very diffiult to find what we were looking for, but the countryside of modena is very beautiful, anyway Emilia hope you enjoy the forum:)

welcome to the forum & I hope it`s as useful to you as it has been to us. We are in Martina Franca, so not too far away from you 3porcellini!! We`ve been living here for about 18 months but had our holiday home here for a couple of years before that. We also spent a year in Siena about 15 years ago.:)
