2657 Bird Flu

There have been reports today of bird flu in Venice and in the "south" of Italy due to migrating swans.

What affect have members seen (if any).

Or is this our version of the poisoned whale?

Hmm bad news but inevitable I guess. Hope it doesn't put people off going..

Its a mistake to think its an Italian/Turkish/Bulgarian problem, since the bird flu will spread throughout Europe like it or not. Its a worldwide problem, lets hope it doesnt cross species too easily and if it does we get a vaccine quickly organised. For the record British birds migrate fom Africa generally, there has been a case in Nigeria, our bird migration time is during summer. On a brighter note, the numbers of people getting this bird flu, as deadly as it is, is nothing compared to malaria or other tropical diseases. So lets try and keep it in prespective. :(

Yes, yes I know I read the Sunday papers from cover to cover.
