Living in Como Town?

In May I shall be driving to Bellagio from London with wife and Border Collie dog. We have rented an apartment for 2 weeks. No advice to offer I'm afraid but having holidayed there last year with a group I think the lake Como area is ravishingly beautiful and there are many wonderful villas and gardens open to the public.
I think Como town might be a bit too busy for an OAP like me to live in but nearby on the lake certainly. Bellagio or Menaggio perhaps. Good luck with your plans.
Ivan.
[COLOR="Teal"]Hello
My husband and I are planning to move to Como Town in a few months but are going to rent for a year before making a definite long term purchase .We wonder how many other Italy magazine readers have connections in this lovely area and can offer helpful suggestions.;) :p
Excellent idea to rent for a year first. That way you can get to know the market really well and take your time.
Unfortunately I don't know anyone in Como so can't help there. If you decide to visit Lake Garda now and then I can recommend some great restaurants :D

renting is good ... I was just chatting with a friend - today on how low rents are in Italy relative to house prices - so now is a good time to rent unless you expect property prices to increase now (which not many people do).
Welcome to the forum. No connections in Como though we know the area. We live much further south in Lazio. We rented while deciding if the area was right for us and would definitely encourage others considering a move here to do so!! Good luck with your search/move to Italy. We love it here!!
