The "naughty children" were only role-playing adults and they often took part in the main forum to great effect.
One of my favourite threads is: "What's the Italian for shower head" http://www.italymag.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?p=22033#post22033
That thread was started by the wittiest person ever to have entered this forum and I am sad to note that he is no longer with us.

Can I confirm a couple of things,
There are no messages which have been passed to Moderators referring to any member being banned from the forum.
I have been contacted by PM by a member who claims to have been banned, without notice, yat, that member was able to send a PM from their account, so, they cannot be "banned" from the forum, the member's log on name also appears in the "Who's online" section.
I have messaged ronald, and am awaiting a response, can I suggest that before indulging in any further speculation, we await that response before leaping to any conclusions, there may be a perfectly simple explanation for the situation.
What's going on?

Strange thing reality ... very subjective.
GeorgeS has managed to post several times this morning without ever being on-line.
Anyway, he was not showing up on the "Who's online" section - yet apparently the mystery person was!
Me thinks Kafkaesque - go here for more on that word:

There are currently 5 members "Online" but only 2 visible, seems to be some kind of Phenomenon, still, it avoids the "I can see you online" messages.
The number of members will reduce in a second or two, Real Life beckons.

Stodge basically I think you will find that several members are using the invisible facility. Their name does not appear but they are registered as being a member logged on.

I was logging off, to play football with the dog in the sunshine and fresh air...

Totally agree with Frantiani and Adriatica . this forum is big enough for us all especially with the playroom and chat facilities. I reckon there is something here for everyone and every mood.

Maybe ronalds cleaning message from 16th Feb explains what you are wondering?

Turns out to be all or nothing, no b****y compromise. No asking what members want, just act in haste and make matters worse.
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
And as far as I can tell isn't it the Italian way to talk about almost everything and anything, often in a heated and lively manner. Are we being told now to avoid this at all cost for fear of reprisals or worse!
stop chattin, and listen to what's being said...

 The late lamented (?) Tinker has indeed been banned. Not officially, mind, because no one informed him, or told him why, or replies to pm asking for clarification.
He can still pm, and appear on the who's on line, but cannot post new threads, reply to others or delete his own postings.
And when he tries to go to the chat room, the friendly message comes up "you've been banned".
Maybe his paranoia is getting the better of him?

just on the off chance, that tinker is not officially ban, or indeed unofficially,
let me inform u that it is possible that he has a isp error [problem]or something along those lines.
the result is u can get on a site, but for some reason, i have no idea what
it appears u are banned.
happened to me once when a website did some changes. took ages to get
back on,but i wasn't ban!

Panteric,
This actually happens on many internet forums - any older unused threads are removed to create more space for new ones... just start all over again! ;)
By the way, though I don't participate much on the CoC thread (don't drive a Ferrari!), I think it's good to have a playpen...
Cheers,
Stephanie
PS - I agree with George. We should wait for Ronald to clarify before jumping the gun... :)

Don't think ISP issues could cause name to disappear from Membership list and now reappear, especially as it appears it was a single name. I do know what you mean though about ISP issues - have to in my line of work

Ok as new rules are being imposed, I would like to impose one. It would be a good idea that if a member has been banned this is posted for all members to see and would avoid confusion, at least we would know whether they have or haven't. Mods should be made aware of exactly what is going on, before it happens for your own benefit. You have volunteered to do this and should not have to deal with a situation without adequate knowledge.

Glad you think it's good to have a playpen. You should join us, far less of a headache than moderating! ;)

Trullo...
I agree with you there... If someone is banned, then other members should know the circumstances as well. As far as I know, the rules state that the person will be warned prior to being banned. This should clarify the whole situation... :)
Cheers!

wanna bet....:D
i think a balanced and fair point... and totally agree... however we now seem to be treated like naughty children and anything without the bounds of enid blytons very pleasant concept of life is unacceptable... in fact moderation now seems to be censorship... i rarely post in this area... i do not have the wit or temperament ...or even a fast enough internet connection to keep up... but i would say that it was set up for the children to play in... but now the adults have decide to spoil the fun...
