2647 Driving Licence

I've been living in Italy now for getting on for three years and have concerns about my driving licence,(which is the new Credit Card style one), since when I moved here I notified DVLA of my change of address like a good citizen and was told by them that they didn't want to know.
This raises two questions:
1. How 'valid' is my UK driving licence in Italy since it doesn't record my current address although it is valid for driving within the EU.
and 2.If I holiday in the UK and wish to hire a car, I have to falsify my details as I am carrying a UK issued Licence with an out of date address on it.
Does anyone know the rights and wrongs of this?
PS Yes I know this should be in the Legal Section , Thank you
Ian

hi no your licence is not legal after 1 year it needs convalidating at your local motor registy or an aci office where it is stamped to show you are living in italy .please check on this as iam not a n expert but this what i have just done

Thanks for the reply oil di lino,
I'll visit the motor registry office shortly and will get back to you with their reply.
Thanks Again

Dear Oil Di Lino,
I visited our car insurance agent ACI today who said that it's no problem, I just need three passport photos, take a simple eye test and then they can change the card.
Thanks again for your help
