I'm Vanessa, 48 and am hoping to start a new life in Italy with my italian man. I have started an introductory TEFL course here and hope to go to Florence to do the 4-week version later in the year. I have read all the discussions regarding TEFL teaching and am fully aware of the problems...but at my age I am not looking for a profession and hopefully will earn enough to supplement my friend's salary.... I used to be a diagnostic radiographer years ago...does anyone have any experience of this type of work in Italy? I believe the British qualification is valid there, and I do speak a reasonable italian after 3 years of study...To retrain here I would have to spend 3 months without pay so I am wondering if I should do it. I also have a degree in Architecture, currently work as a school science technician and finance assistant, have typing qualifications. Any ideas to earn a crust in the Florence/Siena area would be most welcome...I'm will to do almost anything....
