..... you can delegate Power Of Attorney ('Procura Speciale') to someone (either your estate agent or someone you trust ;-)), to act in your absence. ...... In order to do this, you will need to sign the correct Italian document in front of a Notary in the UK, either at an Italian Consulate, or any independent Notary who is able to attach their seal ('Apostille') to the document, then send it to your procura in Italy.

Hi Marc,
This is regarding a purchase rather than a sale.
I am hoping to act as Power of Attorney for my daughter in her purchase and am about to sort out a Procura Speciale. We are both in this country at the moment but I am heading for Italy at the end of this month and we would hope to do the atto for her purchase in April, with myself as power of attorney, as she will not be able to get across to Italy at that time.
Could I ask, when you say that she would need to sign the correct Italian document in front of a notary - and that it could be an independent Notary who is able to attach their seal - how we could find such a person in the UK.
I realise this can be done at an Italian Consulate but I wonder if there might be someone closer to us in the North East of England.
Hope I have understood correctly - please tell me if I have completely got the wrong end of the stick on this :)
Regards, Lesley

Hi Lesley! We had to do this on an Italian property purchase! Your daughter has to go to a Notary in the UK, every area has one. There she will be able to obtain a Power of Attorney for you. It was very straightforward when we had to obtain one in Salisbury. By the way thanks to you and your daughter for my book it arrived today!!
Oh my - that was quick! Postage from Uk to Italy

Hi,
Will PM you regarding P of A as I don't want to bore the pants off everyone else with my own waffle about it.
But following on from your book receipt - apologies for cross posting - but how long do you find it takes for post from the UK to get to you?
And, BTW, you are welcome :D
Regards, Lesley & Brian

You should be able to do the Compromesso by post.
As regards the completion, you can delegate Power Of Attorney ('Procura Speciale') to someone (either your estate agent or someone you trust ;-)), to act in your absence. They will attend the Atto di Compravendita and accept the payment for you. In order to do this, you will need to sign the correct Italian document in front of a Notary in the UK, either at an Italian Consulate, or any independent Notary who is able to attach their seal ('Apostille') to the document, then send it to your procura in Italy.
(Send me a private message if you'd like me to email you the template for a Procura Speciale)
