[QUOTE=rapide561]Hi
I have applied to the Italian Consulate in London for a Codice Fiscale.
Does anyone know how long the process takes?
Also, a colleague states I will need a "FIP" card? What is this? She said it was like a national insurance number, si I am thinking "maybe the old name for the codice Fiscale"
Any info appreciated

My daughter applied for her Codice Fiscali by post via the Vice-Consulate in Manchester and was quoted a month but it arrived within a fortnight.
This was just a paper version (not sure if she will get the plastic card eventually but we have only got paper versions and they have been fine to use whenever we have needed to)
Hope this helps

Hi
Our paper version took 1 week and the plastic cards then turned up about 1 month later. Any problems give the consulate a call they are very helpful.

I got mine via the Edinburgh consulate and it took over a month to get the paper and more than three months for the card. Admitedly, I applied at the start of August, so some of the delay would be due to summer hols. The card itself was produced in Rome, sent to the consulate and then to me, by the way.

We got ours while out here in Italy and it only took a few weeks for the plastic cards to arrive. This subject has come up many times before on the forum, suggest you do a search, which should give you all info you need!
