2873 Sandra and John in Puglia

Hi everyone,

We have now been living in Puglia for nearly a year with our dogs Susie and Alfie, our first anniversary will be on 3rd. April.

I am a retired midwife and John a retired International lorry driver. We took early retirement to start a new life here in Italy.

We visited Italy many times when John was driving and we discovered Puglia through a magazine and Inter Italia!

We have an Ostuni style Trullo/villa just outside ostuni off the Martina Franca road. We look onto the Massaria Foragno if anyone knows it.

We are very happy here and have found everyone to be very friendly and helpful. The language has been hard to come to grips with but we are slowly getting there, not easy to learn a new language when you are older.

We are in our fifties and have two children. four grandchildren and one great grandaughter.

Ciao for now
Sandra and John

We are in our fifties (well actualy Alex is 63 !!!) and retired here permanently last May. We are just outside San Vito dei Normanni and love it here despite the winter being much longer and colder than we anticipated !!!!

There is also a Puglia web-site...if you PM me I'll give you the web address.

Hi Sandra & John,
We are going to move to Puglia in the not to distant future, currently living in Hove, Sussex, looking for a property in a coastal town between Bari and brindisi.
We have three children that have all flown the nest and now we are looking for a new adventure.
We will be arriving with a characterful parrot called pepper, as many words of Italian as we can grasp and the will to learn more.
Did your purchase go okay, I get the impression that as long as you are sensible there dosen't seem to be to many pitfalls.
How was your first winter, are the logs cheap? love a log fire.
Have you visited any of the towns on the coast nearby you would recommend having a look at?
Ciao, Jan & Peter.

There you go, found a couple of posts about beaches but there are more.

Torre San Sabina....as you drive into Village, take second on the left and you come to a wood....walk thru wood and over dunes and you come to perfect little bay...wonderful...just a short walk in other direction to a couple of bars and restaurants]
Torre Canne..more commercialised but there is a beach and lots of shops, bars and restaurants.
Torre Guaceto...national park...lots of stretches of sandy beach...not many with bars ..but a few small ones..

You should check out the beaches in the Gargano region of Puglia. The beaches there are clean with white sand not pebbles. They are also very safe. No quick drops. Great for kids.

Sandra & John,
Sorry forgot to say, feel free to personal message us at any time.
Ciao, Jan & Peter.

Hello and welcome

We too are buying near San Vitto dei Normanni. We are 54 and 59, and have 2 children who have also fled the nest. 78 year old mother coming with us, and we hope to be permanently resident before the end of the year. Also got 2 dogs and a cat to bring with us

Dear All

We have recently purchased a house in San Vito dei Normanni and are now looking for a local builder (in Puglia) to do some altertaion work for us.

We would like to convert the outside bathroom into and ensuite bathroom. ( The bathroom is attached to the property) as well as putting in a shower & washhand basin in the outside room.

The property is failry modern (1980's) and we've got a fair idea of what we need doing.

Could anyone help us source a builder for this project?

Kind Regards

Martin & Irina
