Yes the following place has them www.unopiu.it

Thank you David and Linda. The website looks interesting.Prices are a little more than I budgeted for!!

For Italy,I don't sit outside much in the UK as I try to spend as much of the summer as possible in Italy!!

Our local Emmezetta had a table and chair set like you described, last week, but that was Puglia. They seemed to be getting the summer furniture out now so you should start to see more as the weeks go on.

If you are anywhere near Perugia the firm Rinaldini Lando (Import), on the Magione-Perugia road parallelling the dual carriageway between these towns has a great selection of mosaic topped tables cheap. (ie much less than unopiu!!)
They come from Morocco I think, but I have had one outside for seven years without problems of frost damage etc.

:) Peter! we're in Dorset too! Wonder if we're neighbours?

Wouldn't you consider a timber table? I made 4 outdoor tables for myself, family and friends last summer. Very easy to make, much cheaper than buying a similar one in the shops, they look great, they're hard-wearing and so heavy that there's absolutely no chance of it ever being knicked! Once you've bought the timber from the local timber yard, and assuming you have the tools, you could do it in an afternoon. Then, buy a choice of chairs to go with it.
I have the plans and a few pics somewhere if you're interested.

OK, i'll just score off the Italian garden table business idea off my list! :)

I think your garden table business is an excellent business derekL :)

John and I made our garden table too. I went to a salvage yard (this would be really good to do in Italy) and bought two
heavy antique iron double legs, and then John engineered the wooden table top.
We painted it with black exterior paint and I detailed the legs with some painting of the acanthas leaves.

We just bought inexpensive black folding cafe chairs to go with it, and now we have enough room for 10 to dine al fresco.

Here's a link to the table:

Wow! You've put my table to shame! What a wonderful job.
Great idea using the old iron legs.

Here's one of mine with the [also] very inexpensive folding chairs - but very easy to store in winter.

Yours is very nice Derek!!!!

Different styles, but at least we both did it ourselves. We just couldn't find anything we liked, so we decided to make it ourselves. And John (Mr.greatscott, the true Scot that he is, loved the cost ;) )

Here's a photo John took before a party with the table done up:

You've really done it up well. I'll bet you've had some wonderful outside dining evenings. You've given me some good ideas! ;)
Unfortunately we don't get enough warm evenings here in Ireland. :( But we make the most of it when we do!

And I, also a Scot, was also driven by cost! (I also did the decking myself)
You're right. All the tables I saw in the shops were either cheap and flimsy or over-priced teak. Total cost for mine - around €80 for the timber.

Here are some other Ideas Derek. I'm giving you a better look at the outdoor dining space, and showing you our outdoor kitchen.

Wonderful! I think you should both go into business when you go to Italy!
I like your pergola. I'm looking to build one here at home in the Spring. Rather than go the traditional path using only wood, I'd like to try something different. Perhaps some iron-work. Some nice ones here...

Excellent resource Derek, thanks :) I think John and I will be passing on doing this kind of thing for a living, but hey, if we have a "situation" with a house purchace it's nice to know that we have a few skills so we won't starve, lol ;)

Our boys bought John all kinds of iron working tools and torches two Christmas's ago. I suppose we should bring them with us.

So glad someone else is having the same problem! We thought finding a green metal bistro set (2 chairs and an 80cm2 table) would be child's play given hotels, cafés, agriturismos and gardens are littered with them but we also have only found Unopiu. Mind you, finding such a thing in the UK is also proving far from straightforward! We were particularly taken with some Vermobile garden furniture, but the web site is in Japanese despite the fact much of the furniture is made in Italy! If anyone has any other ideas for Tuscany, I'd be delighted to know!

Why not pop into your nearest bistro set littered Agritour and over a meal / coffee, ask the owner where they got theirs from ???;)
