2883 Pellet Stufa - expensive?

I have been advised that if you buy cheap pellets - your stufa may only last 2 years - does anyone have experience of this?

I cant remember which ones are the good pellets - the white or black type.

Its an interesting question. Your stufa manufacturer probably has a technical spec recommended for things like calorific value, pellet length, humidity content and ash residue %. The best thing to do is check this against the spec on the pellet bag. However some pellet bags do not have this on and it can be very difficult to find this information out from retailers.

Paler coloured pellets made from hard woods are supposed to be best. It is probable that Swiss or Austrian ones are the most efficient. However, some Italian stove manufacturers have good quality pellets sold under their name. Palazzetti - Pellets Express is one.

If you are buying a bancale - 90 or so bags and storing them it is important to check the quality of bag production, some have weak corners which split when stacked and the pellets absorb humidity.

Interestingly it can be difficult to buy pellets in mid winter and they are often only delivered to retailers the third week of September. Its an interesting subject and it would be ;) great if people shared their recommendations of different brands.
