2925 Building an Italian Villa in Marche

Hi, :) i am a student from the University of Portsmouth on the Construction Engineering Management degree, a by-product of the Civil Engineering degree. I am currently in my final year completing a project which involves building and managing from scratch a villa in Marche. I have always loved Italy due to my experiences there growing up, and though its been said i have effectively 'shot myself in the foot' by choosing to complete a project abroad unlike the other students, i have thoroughly enjoyed the experience so far and to some extent am forfilling my dream for later on in life.

My current problem however is that i need to find an Italian equivelent to B & Q, or essentially a supplier of external and internal doors, windows and stairs, and though i have found one or two companies in the area that custom build, i was hoping to find a place that sold the above with set dimensions which i can then incorporate into my design.

Can any one out there help me?!

im in the Pesaro, Marche.

thanks James

Hi I'm nearby, Where we get our supplies from our Obi or Brico. They do all those sorts of things. There is a Obi in Pesaro.

Whereabouts in Pesaro is the house?

its near Urbino, off the SP 51 if that helps.

would you have any idea on either of those stores you mentioned websites by chance?

cheers, james

These are probably no help what so ever cos I can't read Italian! :D

I did a similar thing in my degree in building services. No one ever tells you ablout the amount of work involved do they? The links Trullo posted are the same ones I would have given you.

I've got a considerable amount on the building services side of things. If you want any info on that side, suggest you send me a PM.

Regards

Andy

No. I am not afraid of Trulli! She soft and cuddly most of the time. Anyway having just watched the first half of England Vs France, a good kicking wouldn't actually make me feel any worse anyway.

PS: Now I'm a senator, you should really start showing me some respect!!!

Have you discovered Self at Piederipe close to Macerata - its a haven for most things and there's also a great Hardware (serious stuff) very close by. If you need directions, give me a call - send me a pm and I'll let you have my number.

regards
Pam

Andy, that reminds me of a joke!

[SIZE=2][LEFT]HER DIARY
Thursday 8th December 2005
Saw him in the evening and he was acting really strangely. I went shopping in the afternoon with the girls and I did turn up a bit late so thought it might be that.
The bar was really crowded and loud so I suggested we go somewhere quieter to talk. He was still very subdued and distracted so I suggested we go
somewhere nice to eat.
All through dinner he just didn't seem himself; he hardly laughed and
didn't seem to be paying any attention to me or to what I was saying.
I just knew that something was wrong.
He dropped me back home and I wondered if he was going to come in; he
hesitated but followed. I asked him again if there was something the
matter but he just half shook his head and turned the television on.
After about 10 minutes of silence, I said I was going upstairs to bed. I
put my arms around him and told him that I loved him deeply.
He just gave a sigh and a sad sort of smile. He didn't follow me up but
later he did, and I was surprised when we made love. He still seemed
distant and a bit cold, and started to think that he was going to leave me and that he had found someone else. I cried myself to sleep.

Was just curious as to why you wanted doors windows etc from a B&Q type suppliers rather than,as most people here, going to a specialized artisan who will make to measure in almost any kind of wood, style, design, windows doors and shutters to a very high standard and at competitive prices. If iwere to have a villa constructed new i wouldn't feel happy with a standardized industrial product which would probably mean it wouldbe in PVC or alu or something...if you want any addresses of this kind of supplier you can send a pm.

the reason quite simplyis as i am only fictionally building my villa, my lecturer suggested for ease that i can refer to a companies product to aquire dimensions for certain parts to the acomodation, and reference them in my AutoCAD drawing and Bill of Quantities, making it easier than detailing it all in my drawing.

though i have to admit the thought had crossed my mind and in the hope that one day i get to build this dream home i will most certainly refer to a more quality supplier lol!!!
