Ciao Giulia e benvenuta
You say you are from the North-West of the country. Where exactly, and is it near the very beautiful Lago Maggiore? My wife and I spent our last holiday at Pallanza, on the lake. It was so peaceful.

Pallanza is in my Region, in fact I live in Piemonte but in the south. My village il called Stazzano and it is situated near the border between Piemonte and Liguria.
I've never been to Pallanza, but I have visited Arona and Omegna (Lago d'Orta).
-To GlenB : "Forum" in italian is "luogo di pubblica discussione" but on the web we use "internet forum":)
Thank you everyone for welcome.
You are all very kind and friendly and I hope to improve my knowledge of English.
If you need some information about my language I will be glad to help you.
:)

Ciao a tutti, I am Catherine and I live in New Jersey, USA .However, I did live for almost 13 years in and around Firenze up until 1992. I am now married to a man from Asti, in Piemonte and I have one 20 yr old son born in Firenze . I am definitely an italo-phile and would love to own a little "casa rustica" with a little land somewhere in central-northern Italy. My in-laws are in Veneto and in Piemonte and all my friends are in Toscana. My husband is not thrilled with my idea of buying in Italy , mainly because we do not own our own house here in NJ. But we cannot afford anything in the area where we currently live. I hope to retire in 4-5 years and he also.
So I guess I am writing because I would love to get some input from all of you. My idea would be to rent it out when we are not there......plus, of course let our family and friends use it when it is empty. I am tired of having to either pay for accomodation or staying with relatives when we go on vacation in Italy.............Thanks for listening!

Catama, give me you address & I will mail you (both) a copy of the film, Dead Poets Society. Seize the day, sweetie! I don't want to sound trite & simplistic, but don't aim to achieve your dreams the day before you retire (or even expire!), go for it................... now!
Oh, welcome by the way :D
Having (re) read that, it really does sound trite & simplistic (sorry!)

Piacere concoscervi tutti -
Looks like I posted this twice. Sorry
Anyway I would be grateful for anyone knowing a way I may find work in Italy. I would even be willing to start my own business if I thought the idea was right. I know I should post this in the other section.
Come stai - Guilia -
