2960 started a caravan post

here in my second thread on drivel i must say,am not happy
read a post on caravan parks! ho why did i post it.
looks like we will not be driving down to san bat, but will be looking to go
to another region!
already looked into aldrige, but the prices in late august are still high!
would have thought the germans would be traveling home by then, so the
prices should have comedown, but havn't.
thought i would try the coastal area of tuscany, but again not down to
the 50 euro a night budget i have set myself, and have done central tuscany
a few times.
then looked into veneto and garda area, much better, but again have been there 3 times and did fancy a change.
so any ideas as to where to go, will not go further south than florence,
whats the piont, i will then get near to rome, which i like a lot.
that in turn means i am near to naples and san bat, which would then
mean me doing a complete turnaround and going to san bat!

i just love planning holidays...........:)

Only a tiny bit south of Florence, but have you checked out the offerings around Lago di Trasimeno - not a wonderful swimming lake, but good base for visiting Asissi, Perugia, Siena, Orvieto etc. etc: or for nicer swimming (and faster hire boats - no engine capacity restrictions!) there is quite a lot of decent looking camping stuff around Lago Bolsena.
Don't think cheap rates come in until September though - but certainly these spots are much more affordable than Tuscan coast.

thank u, i'll look up some sites...

Come on Gio, come further down and you can meet up with the Puglia Posse, loads of parties on the go. I used to love my caravan, but sadly had to sell it to buy my villa in San Vito. We've just bought a 3 bed roomed dome tent and plan to spend a month in the kids summer holidays, doing a week camping on our way down, two weeks at the house and then a week camping coming back seeing the sights in Northern Italy and France. OOhhhhhh think of the tan.

its true to say i have a delema.
by going to san bat, its about time we ventured further south, sight seeing.
but then we still want to do a lot more sighting,of all italy, and as we have a
place in the south, its like we will one day spend a lot more time there, and
maybe end up flying out rather than driving, which at the moment i enjoy.
so whilst i do still drive there,i need to see as much of italy as possible,
because when the day comes that i put up with flying, theres no way
i will be driving up and down italy in a 750 panda...........

Our reason was the fact that during the kids holidays in the summer the flights are expensive and when you've got 4 of em it's really expensive but for £124 return for a Zafira and trailer we thought that was fantastic and we get to stay with my parents in Britany for a few days on the way back and have a month off, oh the joys of being self emplyed...;)

£124, thats not norfolkline is it,only asking cause thats what they want for crossing with a caravan, anytime.bit annoying really as i thought £110 for
a car was good....

sorry forgot u are taking a tent......but u still have a trailer does that count
extra..?

I dont know because I haven't had a quote for a car on its own but Neal went over with our lwb transit van in Sept and we paid £60 return Dover to Calaise

cheap is not the word, i still remember paying around £280 to 300 on a special
ten years ago......

funny you should say that, I walked past a travel agents today in Leigh and for 2 weeks in Gran Canaria self catering was £350 which is what I paid 20 years ago for my 21st birthday trip with the girls.

Come to northern Lazio. campsites on the shores of Lago di Bolsena, right on the waters edge. Bonus you can swim in the beautifully clear water.
