2957 So sad

Please could someone explain. I was just going to post a reply to what has been going on on another thread and it has been closed. Is this what happens? Surely it is up to us to decide what threads to read or not and whether we have had enough. Obviously not!

I just wanted to say that I am so sad that people can be so hurtful when it comes to someone elses problems. I just didn't see any reason for it. There are two sides to a story but what is wrong with being nice to someone who is obviously hurting and giving them the benefit of the doubt. Is your life so sad that you can't do that.

Hi Valgee. Threads are only ever closed for a good reason. Regretably, as you say, this closes them to the good guys and the bad guys indiscriminately. If you want to offer sympathy to someone, you can always send them a Private Message though.

the thread has moved to the play room

Thank you for your polite replies.

Valgee
the thread has moved to the play room
Correction:
The partly unrelated dispute has moved to the play room... the thread itself is closed. :)

Valgee - I think posts were getting too upsetting for both sides, those agreeing & those disagreeing with the issue. Also, a couple of indirect links were put up to find the 'other side' which is not allowed on the forum.

I'm sure that particular forum member would appreciate your support by pm and I hope we'll hear back from her with any new developments.

Cheers,
S

Thank you Iona, just a bit annoyed (with myself) that I left it too late to say something.

Valgee

You are quite free to start a new thread on a similar topic, or (as Iona suggests) send a private message to anyone who took part in the closed topic!
closed topic!
I get the feeling you would like the topic closed, so why bother even posting in this thread and pushing it back to the top???

I still get the feeling Relaxed isn't Relaxed.. but hey.. who am I? :D

:) :)

I don't understand why you say I wanted that topic closed. You have absolutely no evidence one way or the other.

The later posts had degenerated into a bit of a personalised bunfight (with zero relevance to the original topic), and I think the moderator was correct to shove the jokers into the circolo: unfortunately (in my opinion) this resulted in the topic being "padlocked".

It seemed to me that valgee wanted to have some input into the issues raised in the LF thread (as it has come to be known), and I simply wished to point out to him that avenues wre not closed to continue a discussion of The Issues.

I expect valgee is intelligent enough to figure out that this valid discussion can be continued without particular reference to "LF issues" - which is why I suggested he started a new thread.

That’s ok then, solved another mystery of the emphasis of the exclamation mark, must have been a bit like the misunderstanding of the use of quotation marks in other thread. Incidentally, there were various reasons why the thread was closed, you care to read back. ;)

Sorry trullo, but I do find your posts offensive to me - I think you are only seeing one half of the story. (We are talking about the LF thread here).

Marc took me to task about my use of "quotation marks", and I responded to him in an intelligent manner. I didn't abuse him in any way - he was in some way justified to leap to the conclusions to which he leapt - but when I explained to him why I had enclosed certain phrases in "quotation marks" he appreciated what I was saying, and understood (I am not saying he was in agreement, or supportive) that I was making a valid - and inoffensive - point.

I am a bit baffled as to why you raise this issue. I thought (though my memory could be failing me here) that my use (or abuse) of quotation marks was something between me and Marc in a private message scenario. I defer to your more sober analysis of this situation - mea culpa - if you are correct.

But why (unless you are employed by the mediators who "shafted" LF) are you so fixated on getting this thread closed?? Not me, it is YOU who seem to need "closure"!!

The thread was closed because it was getting silly: when Aliena, sodj (Relaxed!!) etc etc get involved it gets silly - any sensible moderator calls "time" - you can't argue with that.

Relaxed you're not at all relaxed and if you read my post you will realise I asked you to explain the explanation mark at the end of your post. I am equally baffled, Urm, the quotation conversation took place in the forum, go read the posts. I am perfectly aware of what posts we are talking about and maybe you should read them properly before you give me explanations of what, I KNOW, I'm talking about.
Why have you implied that the mods have shafted LF, when in the next sentance you say, "any sensible moderator calls "time"? The post was quite simply closed for a number of reasons, one being because it was getting silly and secondly for the reasons Iona has given. And no, I am not employed by anyone to do anything on here, ok! I have no argument with anyone unless you would like one? If you wish to continue this then I suggest you PM me.

Sorry Valgee, get lots of mis-read posts on here.

Trulli,

Sorry for butting in but I think you misread the message from Relaxed. This is what Relaxed said:

quote - mediators who "shafted" LF - unquote.

Not mods

Best wishes, Lesley

Oh for goodness sake you lot. This is exactly what I was on about. Can't we all have a discussion without getting nasty. There is always a nice way of saying things and everyone would feel a lot better afterwards.

I am sorry to start another argument so lets all be nice and enjoy the sunshine. Its snowing in England! (Sorry, I used an exclamation mark!) Oops, I did it again.

By the way, I am a female (well last time I looked anyway). My name is Val and I live in Verona though sadly will be returning to England in a few weeks time but hope to continue to check out the site and if it gets boring I will find a way of starting another argument. Only joking.

Ciao for now.

Aliena

You're faster off the mark, but just look at my detail, not surprising, coming from a tourist guide who only left the area just over a year ago.

Have a nice day

Karen

As usual it looks like a lot of not reading the lyrics from all concerned.

I asked a question in my first post, with loads of question marks because I wasn't sure of the significance, had a reply, which I excepted and gave an example of my misunderstanding that it equated too. See below

Dear Marc - you are quite misunderstanding me, and my use of quotation marks.

Of which Marc also excepted.

I also explained there was more than one reason to close thread.

The attack from Relaxed was not required.

Mediators and mods, my mistake but it had also been made in a post preveous to mine which has now been deleted.
Incidentally, I have no hidden agenda about LF, I'm in contact on a daily basis but remain neutral as I only know one side of the story.
I also suggested anything further via PM but there you go.
These things happen, so chill everyone.
