2938 New to the forum

Hello, I just joined the forum. I have been living here in Lago Di Patria( near Napoli) for 2 years now. My wife and I love it here. It is so easy to get around Italy from here and have been to many great places.
Italy is not new to us, I have been coming here since 1976, with my work with the U.S. Navy.
Looking forward to hearing about places we haven't been in Italy and will gladly share some of the places we have been to.
Ciao!

Welcome to the forum, I seem to remember there are a couple of Napoli supporters on the forum, no doubt you will hear from them in due course. :)

Do you ever get over to Ischia that's where my family is from?

Hi there! Welcome to the forum. What is Lago di Patria like? We live near three lakes Lago di Bolsena, Lago di Vico and Lago Bracciano all very different. The first is picturesque with interesting villages, the second surrounded by trees and the latter nearer to Roma so much more commercial. We love them all.

Yes, we have been to Ischia several times, just a short boat ride. My wife prefers Capri, but I find Ischia to be less touristy and quieter. They have some great spas there.
Lago Di Patria is a very large lake but not good for anything but sailing. They won't let you fish there because of the pollution. The town itself is very nice and the people are very friendly.
We have a great Italian landlord, and his family is lovely.
We are very close to the Amalfi coast and have been there many many times.

I have to say Capri is my favourite - and yes - , very touristy but if you stay on the island and get out and about before the first ferries from Napoli, the island is your own - head up to Anacapri very early - we met a couple who had swum into the Blue Grotto before breakfast- and I wish I were still young enough to dive off some of the boats which tour the island. I'm heading back for my 50th but won't spend too long in Capri town. One of the walks we once did - was climbing down the Phoenician steps from Anacapri to Capri town beach - I have never felt so remote and so helpless with so many people on an island so small - you really can get away from it all on Capri - it's a shame more people don't get away from the sights and just take time to explore

We have found so many places to go from here. I have so many relatives that come to visit that , we have become un official tour guides. We just spent the night in Ravello and then had a cooking class in Praiano. Went to Siena the weekend before.
We went to Alberro Bello right after the New Year to see the live Nativity they have and slept in a Trulli house. A really unique experience.
Our favorite town on the Amalfi coast is Minori, they have a little Mom and Pop Limoncello factory there and we always stop in to say hello and sample their wares. I make my own and always get new tips on the process.
The problem we find is that we don't have enough time to get to all the places we want to go. But we are trying our best!
