Boarding Kennels for dogs

08/10/2009 - 11:28

We are looking for a boarding kennels, can anyone recommend something suitable ? We need somewhere that will be heated in winter, with shelter.  Ed isn't that keen on other dogs (but he loves people) so somewhere where he can be kept seperate would be  a good idea!  Thanks in anticipation

Distance isn't too much of a problem we live in Chieti region about 30 mins from Lanciano, but we don't mind travelling to make sure he has somewhere people are kind to him and proper facilities.  In wintertime I thinks it's important to have a few comforts.

we have one near us... am not sure about winter heating ...will ask...  i also a few years back knew one down in Roseto... which was good... will have to speak to out vet for the info again... presume as you are asking about heat its not an immediate requirement...  oh yes we are just 10 minutes from Teramo city.. so the boarding kennel is about eight minutes...

As I don't live in your area I can't help you other than saying have you asked your Vet or a local Pet Food Store, they should be able to recomend something. As for heating; the Kennels where we use and others in the area seem not to open during Wintertime, as lack of demand; also I would imagine that it would be costly. Good luck finding Ed a place....

visted the place today and it seemed as good a place as any i have visited ... its open all year...well presume he does take some holidays ...and the dogs...there were plenty there all seemed happy...no frantic barking and lots of tail wagging...plenty of outdoor space and the boxes looked clean as did the dogs... no smell ... has a websitehttp://www.plutoservice.it/index.htmlno english spoken... if anyone does use the place would be nice to know how it goes...

Adriatica, thanks so much for that, it really is very kind of you.  After the bank holiday we will call him and see if we can go up and have a look round, take Ed too.  Have also found on another of your links a place called Dogs Village 10km from L'Aqulia, have emailed them, no response yet but will ring next week and try and visit both places on the same day.

the owner does say on his site that its good for owners to visit and bring their dog...to familiarise themselves with the place... i couldnt remeber the name of the L'Aquila one and was sort of a bit nervous about looking too hard for that...hopefully they did not have any damage... never visited that place but it looked ok on the site... if you do go there to look would be good if you gave us all an updateanyway on the site above on their home page is also the dogsitters site... not sure if its already been mentioned elsewhere... anyway here is the linkhttp://www.dogsitter.it/it has loads of info and yellow page areas for things like dog sitters and  even accomdodation in agriturismo that cater also for dogs... a useful site ...with lots of info

actually something new... its a site dedicated to animal welfare.... brand new in fact... was watching telly and theres actually for Italy a funny advert with a cat and printer..worth watching... anyway here is the site and there are areas that include boarding kennels ..and many other things... my way of saying i havent looked at it very well yethttp://www.vacanzebestiali.org/content/benvenutodont like the site name a lot...

Phoned Dogs Village yesterday and spoke to a very nice lady.  Can go anytime so will probably have a day out next week or the week after and visit both places and on the way back a newly recommended vet.  I'll keep you posted on all fronts!

We thought that we would never leave our dog in kennels in Italy because it couldn't be as good as the ones we had in the UK.......how very WRONG we were!Visited 'Dogs Village' nr. L'Aquila yesterday and it was brilliant.  Everyone was very kind to us and Ed, we managed to get by even with our pigeon Italian.  The place has lots of space both the runs and the boxes themselves.  They are portacabin types which were extremely clean, absolutely no smell.  In fact two people were cleaning when we were there plus the owner.  The kitchen where food is prepared is also spotless and there is a hugh variety of food to choose from.  There is an outdoor ring, fenced off where the dogs are exercised alone and they are also walked alone too, so no mixing if you don't want it.  They are open all year and the kennels are heated in winter, it looks absolutely perfect a really professional outfit , we'll give it a try.I've attached a link to the site if anyone else needs info:www.dogsvillage.it

Hi there,Did you ever tried dog sitting instead of kennels? Here you can find a trusted sitter https://it.dogbuddy.com/dog-sitter  - In my opinion is a better option since your dog will not be in a cage but he will be having fun :)
