hi trullomartinafranca, I'm not a geometra but I can tell that it probably was an animal yard as the code f2/2 might suggest, it could be converted into accomodation if you applied to the Comune for a change of use of the yard.
I know all this because I live in ostuni and run a company doing project management and general building.
all the best, ottavio.

Thank you Ottavio, Yes, we were under the impression that it was for animals, so I assume it would never have had a roof. Does this not make it more difficult to get planning permission for change of use? In other words what are the chances that it can be used for human residence and would it be built in the same way as a Trullo with cones?
At one point we were told that it would have to have a wooden roof because it never had a roof in the first place.
I realise that no definite answer can be given until planning permission is gained or not as the case may be but just like to understand a bit more.
Thanks

hi trullo, before you apply for plannig permission it would be better for your geometra to see how the yard has been accatastato (reported on the register of propeties"catasto"),f2/2coud mean fallen downanimal stable, only then decide to put in a planning permission, because getting the change of use is also linked to the size of the land and the size of exsisting building.
hope I have not confused you more, greetings Ottavio

Hello Trulli,
It seems to me that it was used as a courtyard for animals and probably at the land registry we will find nothing. However we might find something on the map - it is necessary to know in which zone the property is. The rules for change of assignment of use provide for a change in cases where there already exists an assignment of use and in this case it will not be possible to do a change of use. However, there will certainly be an answer for the recuperation and restructuring of the structure.
I am at your service for any other information by PM or e-mail.
Saluti,
Fulvio TROIANO

Thank you Falvio, Definitely registered, has it’s own number and is farm storage, as I understand it. I realise each case depends on circumstances but are there situations when a yard can be made into a building with a roof and used as accommodation or only remain as storage. Sorry I didn’t fully understand your answer about change of use. I have replied in the forum because it may help others too.

There will be a solution for the recuperation and rebuilding of the structure but it is not possible to know exactly what without examing the documentation (at the land registry) and it is necessary to understand what you would like to do.
Ciao,
Fulvio

Thanks again, I will get in touch with you.
Hi Trullo,
I just though I`d let you know that the Geometra has been in the states for a few days so you may have a bit of a delay before he replies!
