Great news...what would we do without Ryanair !!!!!!!!!!!!!:)

Let's keep our fingers crossed...and toes !!!!!!!!!!!!

Personally we've always had brilliant flights with them both to here in Brindisi and when we were looking in Abruzzo on the Pescara route. Never had a delay yet . Sons did at Christmas tho' !!!!!!!!! Typical !!!!

That's fabulous news A&L thanks for sharing it and all those exclamation marks with us. :D

We have no complaints either.
The queuing bit is a pain and the flight times are a bit inconvenient( we live north of Birmingham so we have a long drive in the early hours, kept awake by James Whale) but without these cheap flights we would certainly have to find a lot of extra pennies.
As I say I hope what they have told me is correct.I wonder where the rumour started?
Tricia:confused:

Pat..

Rumours always start at home.. which, for Alex and Lyn.. is in Italy.. the birthplace of all great scandals! :D

Aretina here..

Has anyone tried using Meridiana from Florence to Gatwick- a wonderful centre for those us in Southern Tuscany.
Florence airport should be open again in April and Meridiana seem to have learnt a little from the Ryan/Easyjet school and now have fares that are not restricted to €449 each way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The prices are from around 30 euros each way plus taxes and the flight departure times are usually very convenient.
They have had problems with the airport closure due to essential works on the runway, but when they cancelled my afternoon flight to an evening one without giving me enough notice I got a free (ok I had to pay taxes)return trip valid for a year.
Would be interested in other experiences.

Just booked my first Meridiana flight for many years - out from Pisa in to Florence.

When I used to work in London and before the advent of the cheaper LCAs I used to fly to Florence quite often first with AirUK (KLM subsid.) and then with Meridiana - I remember that in the winter months the flights were often diverted because of bad weather/fog.

On one occasion the poor chap who was supposed to pick me up at the airport was told at Florence that my flight had been diverted to Bologna ... so off he dutily set.

I must have been dozing when the anouncement was made that we had been diverted but knew that I wasn't at the right place and tried to phone his car from the baggage reclaim hall (this was before the days of portables) but there was no reply so I called his wife who said that he was waiting at arrivals in Bologna. "Oh great" I said "I will be out there in a few minutes".

To cut a long story short it was a couple of hours and several tannoy anouncements and telephone calls later that I realised I was not at Bologna but at Genoa - in the end I figured it out by noting that all the cars wore "GE" targas and not "BO"s.

Took me a long while to live that one down.

:D :) :D

We have used Meridiana in the past to fly from Gatwick to Sardinia(Olbia) and they were very good.

Don't waste your money calling Ryanair on their 0870, 0871, and 0906 rip off phone numbers. Visit http://www.saynoto0870.com and get the direct geographical phone number (in Ireland). Use a service like 1899.com and it'll only cost a penny a minute and you'll feel much better when you are on hold!

e.g. customer service = +353 12497700
head office = +353 18121212
stansted ryanair baggage enquiries = 01279 662966
