When we were last in the area, a new golf course--close to Villafranca, I think--was scheduled to be built. Does anyone know its status? If so, is there a way for me to contact them to see about joining?

We heard the same "rumor" about a new golf course in the area, however were unable to develop any info on it. Would also be interested in info.

Last June we visited the commune in Villafranca to discuss our renovations and we were told about the proposals to build an 18 hole golf course. But don't hold your breath. It looks like some sheds have been erected, but that is about it so far!

Thanks, however the problem is with the links on that page to the individual courses listed.

You could also try this link and then select circoli di golf in Italia......it gives you a list of courses, by region (that you can sort by region) and more details about each (address, contact name, phone no).
From what I can ascertain there's:

Marigola 9 hole course in La Spezia

More in Lucca

More in Pisa

....and that's about it (though there must be more 'local' ones!
A search under circoli golf toscana on www.google.it came up with a number of sites: http://www.toscanagolf.it/ (a useful map & more links to clubs), http://www.artemotore.com/golf.html#Toscana (including one in Pontremoli) & http://www.italkey.it/UNIWILLAGE/SPORT/GOLF/home.html#toscana
