Does anyone know if you can get cheap DVD players in Italy and if not, will a British onework on an Italian TV?

You can get cheap ones at most out of town retailers; I looked about 6 mths ago & noticed them for about £40.

A UK one will also be fine.

A British DVD player will work over here, but some TV don't, mainly the older ones.

If you do not own a DVD player yet much better to wait and buy one here. Plenty of excellent deals available.

Can anyone tell me what the difference is between DVDs? I`m thinking of buying them from Amazon & Ebay but sometimes they are described as (I think) band 1 and band 2 etc.(or something like that!) What does this mean & what do we use over here?

..sounds like the mating call of the (not so) lesser spotted "Boring uncle"!

Try this link that explains everything......suffice it to say we're R2 (oh, that's 'we' in the UK & Italian sense)

There are some special offers here at the moment in the "City Per's", dvd player for €29, they have an mp3 player for the same price, the best way to check whether your TV will work is to look at the back, if there is a "scart" socket, you can be reasonably certain the player will work. If you wish to multi region your machine (Normally involves entering a code via the handset) check on www.dvdreviewer.co.uk, under Info, multiregion hacks...
