3062 Would you buy weedkiller more often than potting soil

It would surely depend whether you wanted to pot something up, or, kill weeds.......

It does seem that way sometimes. We planted some Tomato's, because...'You know they put everthing on them don't you?'. Then because I am English and so know nothing about anything. We then had to go to all our Italian friends for suggests on how to grow them. We ended up sticking so many chemicals on them, I swear they glowed in the dark.

My experience in Le Marche is that the local people are loath to use any chemicals, the fields are rarely sprayed with anything, although the vines spend a lot of time blue from about easter to july.

Have you read what is in that blue stuff? That was the first thing we had the put on the toms, I am surprised this did not kill them. After I read the warning on the packet, I thought about sending off for one of those chemical warfare suits they used in the Gulf before spraying.
What I can not figure out is the fact that we have to throw every chemical know to man at the toms, but I am only allowed to drink bottled water:confused:

One of life's great mysteries... Plant Basil next to your tom's, throw away the chemicals, except maybe a little fertiliser, the basil keeps the pests away, and, you can make pesto too...

To which the answer is of course no,firstly because weed killer is very expensive and used for specific problems like wise potting soil is only used sparingly for flowers or bringing on small plants tooexpensive to throw around as forthe other posts here i'm dumbfounded we had 1.000 kgs of tomatoes last year used no potting soil used no weed killer used no chemicals use copper sulphate in blocks we disolve in water to treat the vines no heavy chemicals but never did trust Romans.....................................

I hate to say but I tried planting Basil and it caught something from the toms. But I can't agree more about the Pesto, how did I live without basil plants I will never know. I can also agree with the never trust a Roman aswell. The trouble with this is that whenever I am totally sure she is wrong, it turns out that that time she was right. :D
