Is this Italy to England ? Or vice versa, surely not as Italy is the home of marble?

apologies for this posting ,have found info under Legal

Please be very sure that the information you are working on is fully up to date, and relevant to Iran.
I say this because in Italy last year I ordered something (a washandbasin to be cut out of a large circular chunk of stone) to be made from the stone known as "Giallo di Persia", and my marble supplier said he would have to check that a large enough piece of this material was in Italy - because severe restrictions on the import of Iranian products/materials were in place.
Get advice from an good Iranian shipping agent.

Thanks for that, fortunately I live and work there and I've got my procurement people on the case, If I succeed I'll keep you informed

Assuming,as is probable ,that nice persian granites and marbles are available in Iran at lowerprices than local italian marbles might be here, that shipping costs and presumably insurance would not be too steep, that government import taxes not eccessive one would still have to have these transported to wherever the house would be and perhaps/probably taken to a marble-granite stone company to have it cut to size (inevitably these people would be fairly pissed off and at best you would be a bottom of the list priority for getting the work done as normally one would go to one of these operators locally choose the marbles and granites and get them prepared directly there )it would be a bit like taking your own food or wine to a restaurant.
As far as getting everything cut to size directly at source the risk would be that they may not be right at the end of the day, when we had stone steps put in they measured every single step individually and although they all looked the same length each one was in fact a different length otherwise some wouldn't have fitted.

Again thanks for the advice. However, we are getting away from the original question.Anyone have info on import duty. Logistics are something else.

ABX logistics is a Belgian group of companies operating as Saima AVndero in Italy they have an office in Genoa - Gianlucca Colangelo +39 010 466770.

If they don't know then I am sure they will be able to point you in the right direction.

Despite this scolding I am going to take issue with Sebastiano at the risk of going a little off thread. He is right Italy is regarded as the home of marble but maybe in the watìy that it is regarded as the home of olive oil. Not all Italian olive oil is from Italian olives and if Iranian marble is cheap and available then I don't suppose all Italian marble tiles are from Italian marble - suits me as I don't want all the mountains at Vercillia to dissapear.

Should we allow this debate to continue, or should I just put carpet down. After all, Iran is the Home of Carpets
