3000 Question re Lunigiana

Quick question for the folks who have bought in Lunigiana - can you recommend a good estate agent for the area?

It does not matter if they only work in Italian as am enquiring for an Italian living here who wants to buy there - well, Tuscany in general (retirement investment).

Some of the usual questions Sano.....where does A N Other want to live: rural, city? what are they looking for new build, restoration etc....

Also Lunigiana is a fairly diverse region; from the hills of Fivizzano/Aulla to the smart towns of Sarzana & on towards the coast of the Cinque Terre.

PM me.

From the conversation I had with him it would seem he is constrained by budget - though not to the same extent as me as he has property here to remortgage.

Rural with ready acccess to a town or city would be ideal.

www.casa.it - has all the big agents including those aimed at the English

eg. L'architrave and Lunigiana2000

but also has small town ones like Castelli in VFranca and Bergamaschi in Pontremoli

I think most locals - ask around and dont use agents tho!!!

Thanks, will forward this on to him. He was interested in Tuscany as his family originates in Florence but he found prices far too high. I mentioned Lunigiana to him and he seemed interested in this option (Le Marche as well) so I promised to pull together some info for him.

Would second the recommendation for Lunigiana2000; Italian and English, situated in Aulla.

Would recommend "Houses in Tuscany" although in reality most of their properties are in the neighbouring region of Garfagnana ,just as beautiful though.

Keep going back to their site, too, as they seem to have a good selection. If they come recommended, the better! :)

We have had good success with L'Architrave. They speak both Italian and English and have a wide range of properties suitable for all budgets. We have found them to be very helpful through all stages of looking and buying, including help with renovations.

Hi Diane & Peter,
How are you getting on with your Summer move to Lunigiana? Is everything going according to plan?

We bought through http://www.casealsole.com who are Italian with good english. We were extremely happy with them and we were buying on a restricted budget. I see they've changed their website since I last looked and you have to look some way down the page to find the link for Tuscany that clicks through to the properties they have for sale in the Lunigiana area.

Oohh nice choice there too... :)

Thanks for sharing!

Hi Derek,

Thanks for asking. Everything is going much better than we thought possible. We got our visas 2 days after we submitted the paperwork to the Consulate in Miami, which surprised us. Now we are gathering every piece of paper we can possibly think of to submit to the questura for our PdiS.

Our completion date is set for June 5 and we will be arriving in Lunigiana on June 14.

So far, things are going well and we can't wait to get settled and actually begin living our dream in Italy.

Welcome to the area........I may have missed it, but where in LuniG are you going to be living?

Thanks for the welcome!

Our new home is in Crespiano, just a short way from Comano. We should be reasonably settled in by late June and hope to get the opportunity to meet those of you who took the step before us.

Crespiano! The world-renowned home of Galetti; a great place to meet up at some point ;)

Galetti's is certainly a great place to meet up and we should plan to do it after we get moved. Sounds like fun!

I'm assuming Galetti's is a restaurant?

.......more than a restaurant ;)

They have a store, bar and a wonderful, wonderful restaurant!

Again, second the recommendation, however her name is Paola.

I can also recommend Lunigiana 2000 Paola is everything you will ever need in an estate agent. We bought a house in Comano through them and I now have a very special friend in Paola and I hope for life.

Diane and Peter,
Good luck with your move in June. I will have to let you know the dates we are in Comano as our first evening is always spent at Galleti's. It is a must we can't come back to the U.k and not visited Galleti's.

Has Paola got google earth installed at work at Lunigiana due mille?

I showed her that site!

Patsy,

Please let us know when you are in Lunigiana; we'd love to meet at Galleti's. And thanks for the good wishes. It is an adventure leaving everything and everybody you know to move to a new country. But, we're very excited and looking forward to it.

We will be in Varano sometime in July into September and would enjoy meeting up with any of you at Galletis any old time.

I think there may be quite a lot of us around in the summer (hopefully). What would you say to all of us taking over the place (Galetti's) for an evening and having a mass get-together? Just a thought.

just to confirm the recommendation on Paola, she's nice and competent.

Here in Lunigiana we have a English speaking Network group. There is a core group of people living here and then others who come and go. We meet at a restaurant about once every 4-5 weeks just to chat and get together. Our next lunch will probably be around Easter, if you are interested just send me a line...it would be nice ti meet

a presto

We're up for a "mass takeover" and get together at Galetti's this summer. Just let us know when. And, while we'll miss the Easter meeting of the English-speaking network, we certainly would love to be included in any get togethers held after we arrive in mid-June.

Thanks for the info. Where do you normally meet up?

You can contact Zac Mahoney at www.italysimply.com Email: info@italysimply.com
Tel.: +39 0187 471769 - they are based in Lunigiana, have good local contacts and experience, they can provide you with a variety of professional services and speak English.
If you get in touch with them mention that you had their contact from Roberto Battista in London, (it helps both ways).

Good luck

Hi sorry I don't visit the site often enough to reply immediately, but we are flying out to Comano tomorrow and should be in Galetti's tomorrow night. Unfortunately can't make definite arrangements as we don't arrrive until 16.15 at Milan. We usually call in the supermarket at Aulla before arriving at the house in Comano.
We are out nearly every month from now until Sept so will post all dates soon.

Hey, try the local, local shops! There are nice ones in Liciciana and well as Comano.....keep away from the big chains :)

How long will you be in Italy for? We arrive on Sunday for a week. Maybe we will be there at the same time?
