3092 A Calcio question

Does anyone know why the A.C. Siena crest has "Robur 1904" on it? I am a relatively new fan and enjoy watching the "Bianco Nero", but I can't find any information on Robur.

Grazie a tutto

Ciao !

Nice to see another Siena tifoso, not many of us about. I have never seen the Bianconeri play in the stadium as yet but hope to rectify that next season. I began supporting them after a visit to the city a few years ago and also for the fact they play in the same colours as my team in England Notts County.............ok i could have plumped for Juve but that would have been to easy :D . The Robur on the club badge refers to the sporting society from which the football club was formed, they were called the Roburrone. As you can see i even borrowed the Robur reference for my forum id ! It looks likely they will still be in Serie A next season but we could do with a couple more wins just to make sure. If you have a good understanding of the language ( which i don't as yet) go to the official club website and there is a very informative history of the club.

I became a fan because my wife and I were married in Siena, in the Palazzo Publico, 8 years ago. Although my family is from Calabria (San Giovanni in Fiore), we adopted Siena as our "home town" when we go to Italy.

Yes, a few more wins would be nice. I would hate to see them relegated. Look what happened to Hellas last year! I think a little more money to spread around would help too.

Ciao a tutte,

CA

Ciao Robur Inglese
I allready answered to the calabrese americano in private.
Robur means Power in latin.
The Robur was founded from former Mens Sana members in 1904.
Mens Sana (big athletic club around that time) is still famous for there great basketball team.
Ciao a tutti da Siena.

Because they played like 11 guys who had never met each other, basically. An Italian friend of mine, who is a huge Juve fan, said he couild not remember the last time they played so utterly poorly.

For the first hour on Sunday too. Thankfully they did enough to take two points of la viola to put AS Roma back in champions league spot
