3112 Leaning tower of Pisa has fallen!!

I was just watching Italian TV on the web and there is a report that the leaning tower of Pisa has fallen!

What a shame after all they have done to secure the future of the tower that this has happened! Apparently, tourists in the area are scrambling over the rubble to collect a pisa de action.

That's an urban myth..

It's called April fools DAY and it lasts ALL day..even in Italy!

Hi,

having just read this article, I thought that is great news. Until I realised what the date is today:rolleyes:

Can anyone confirm this is true?

Francesca

"There is a majority of fools always, in everything. So folly is not just for April 1; and when it officially stops at noon, who can now tell the difference?"

Today's leader in The Times - which used to be an intelligent paper.....:):)

Absolutely Francesca, your calendar is not lying. It is, indeed April 1 :)

as to the tower of Pisa - can't see it from my window, so cannot confirm anything...

Thats a shame that it is straight now . I forgot that it was April Fools and i believed the topic title .

Does anyone else remember the classic, April 1st, Panorama report on the bumper spaghetti harvest? All done with a straight face and showing villagers picking spaghetti from the trees and drying it in the sun.

The BBC was flooded with enquiries about how people could grow their own spaghetti trees!

Please don't remind me how old I am - that must have been late fifties early sixties?? (Watched it from my pram...)

It may have been a long time ago but it was definitely vintage! My Mother (Italian) played along and when English friends asked about it, said her family were spaghetti farmers and what fun they had at harvest time. She managed to keep it going for quite a long time!
