3149 Norcineria

Norcia is particularly famous for its sausages and pork products - it has given its name to the shops called "Norcineria" - meaning a place where you can buy all sorts of specialised salami type sausages, etc. all over Italy.
Appropriately, the butcher's shop in the main square in Norcia looks more like the foyer of a Hilton - classic "designer furniture" to sit on while your ham is sliced for you!!
Castelucchio is famous for its lentils, and the sausage and lentils dish (traditional good luck food at New Year!) is at its very peak when eaten in Norcia :)

Other particular culinary delights include risotto al tartufo and filetto del cavatore (truffle-hunter steak).

And my, but don't those truffle hunters taste fabulous!

Err, unless that means dog :eek: As a dog lover I couldn't eat a dog, even one stuffed with truffles. :D
