Hiya,

Have closed off Paula Hampson's thread in the CdC entitled Abuse. Didn't think it was a good idea to leave it open and wanted to discuss with you whether to delete it altogether... though some people have now read it.

Not sure why she put it into a public place rather than by PM, though. That strikes me a bit odd, like she's after public support...

Shame WT let himself go, though. He wasn't too bad lately...

I think you were right to lock the thread rather than delete it.
The only reason WT has been "all right lately" is that he hasn't been posting much, I think only 2 posts, it was only last weekend that he was being pre moderated for offensive posting, he deserves to be banned. He has shown that he cannot post in a reasonable manner and should therefor not be allowed access to the forums in any form.

Good move closing the thread Stephanie.

I think you're right to leave Paula's post there to show people how rude WT was. He might have thought that the transient nature of the chat room gave him latitude to be abusive, but the hurt people cause by behaving that way can be longer lasting.

I'm surprised though at his direct attack in a place where he must know that a log is being kept. Not sure if he was provoked at all - which means poor Ronald will have to check the log carefully.

Paula has told me about her delight in posting again but I'm wary of her because she used his rant for such a public 'naming & shaming'. A plain pm would've sufficed.

i thought this was the time of forgiveness and goodwill towards all ... or maybe that is christmas...

The chatroom really does not have a log. It only has a temporary store of the last 100 exchanges which simply means that if for some reason the room crashed I would be able to see why or exactly when. In this case however, as there were few exchnage after what WT said I was able to confirm that

a. it was said
b. it was completely unprovoked. WT just entered, offended and left

sad really that a grown person would bother to do that

That's very sad indeed... agree that he should have more common sense than that!! :(

By the way, by this afternoon a second person (probably female) from our forum had joined FrancisM's forum. I feel like a spy going in there lol...

Maybe they all go by themselves... though it's a shame as some of the sparkle seems to have gone and in my view some got away with it, posting happily on here now. But then, it might mean less bickering ...

It is true that we have lost some members who were sickened by the attacks and the rubbish being posted, but, several of them do still visit from time to time, once they feel able to post chatty posts and non malicious jokes in the forums they will come back, it just takes time...
