I'll miss it too - the Giro is not getting anywhere near Lazio, Umbria, Tuscany, or even Emilia Romana this year - so unless I cadge a space under someone's hedge in Puglia I'll have to wait 'til next year!

Pah! Hit the Tuscan/Ligurian coast; the Giro will run along the Cinque Terre, I'm sure. There will be plenty of fuzzy moto shots & sweeping helecopter shots along the Tuscan/Ligurian coast on a long, flat day before the hills...can't wait!

If Livorno is in Tuscany you are right - that's as far south (on the west coast) as it gets this year!!
(Oops - just looked a map: I would have sworn Livorno was in Liguria - actually it is south of Florence!!) :)

So it all kicks off tomorrow...........any bets?
Shame that Garzelli is not making a fight of it, but anyway I'd love to see Ullrich really kick in & can't wait to see if he can do his thing in the mountains. Will he win, doubt it........... but it wouldn't be the first time I'm wrong
:D
MORE corruption!?!?!?!

Ohmegosh no!
It's all gone wrong with the Giro! A prosecutor will be looking into an allegation of bribery that Ivan Basso tried to influence third-placed Gilberto Simoni & offered him money to let him win the race's toughest stage.
The claim calls into serious doubt Basso's nine-minute win, the largest victory margin for over 40 years.
It's a stunning event; get involved....... we had the Giro come through one of our local towns a few years ago & loved every minute. As an ex-bici, I loved it & was in awre of the pros..... maybe "I coulda been a contenda" but then again(!)
Take time to soak up the spirito, as the Italian (like the French) love cycling & it's in their blood.
Enjoy it for me (I'll miss it!)
