After searching for an appropriate website for all things Italian, I've finally found one! From what I've read, it seems that most people are from Europe. I'm from the United States. My mother was a war bride from Napoli, and so I'm a first-generation Italian American. That's where my relationship with Italia began. I'm happy to say that I had a chance to live with my aunt, who now lives in Milano, for a year. I'm excited to communicate with others who are as enchanted with Italia as I am. Carol
I too an American and have been living in Italy for three years now. During that time I have not come across many Americans, possibly because I am in Le Marche. There are definitely more Americans in Milano or Firenze. Have a good year in Milano...a very interesting city!

I am also an American who loves all things Italian. Interestingly, my parents were born in Hawaii and my grandparents were born in Japan. I have visited both places but never felt at home as I do when I am in Italy. When I was in Ausonia I didn't see any Amercians and I was probably the first Japanese/Hawaiian they ever met. In Rome it is more diverse but I still only met one other Hawaiian. Hope to meet you there one day!
Ciao,
Fiorella

Carol, welcome to the forum. I have been living in Napoli for 2 years now and my wife and I love it here. Not as pretty as the North but Napoli has it's own unique charm. There are quite a few Americans in this area since we have a large U.S.Navy presence here . Where in Napoli is you Mother from?
Ciao, Dan

Hi Dan,
ah, Napoli, where is there a more beautiful view than the bay?? Even though I really like all parts of that beautiful country, I think the south has much more charm than the north. My zia lives in Milano and close to Como and there are breathtaking views there as well as wonderful places to go. I'm partial to Napoli because that is where my mother is from. She grew up in the Chiaia area and in Posillipo. During WWII their family left Napoli to their home in Puglianello. During the war, she met and married my father and they moved to the U.S.
Where do you live? Where is your family from? Carol
I'm from Virginia

Carol, yes, the Napoli area is quite unique. My wife and I really love the Amalfi Coast. We are going down this week to take some vistors and spend the night in Ravello! I have driven the coast dozens of times, I think my car knows it by heart:D
We are planning a trip to the Milano area in October, my in Laws want to see that part of Italy.
My family is from Holland, a long long time ago.I must have some Italian blood in me somewhere though, because it feels like this is home.
We actually live in Virginia Beach , Virginia and will be returning there in less than a year. That's where the kids and grandkids are.
We will miss Italy but we will surely be back for holidays.
Ciao, Dan
piacere conoscerti

My father was an Italian POW from Lombardy. Whilst based in Kent, he met and eventually married my mother. They settled in Italy - on the border of Tuscany and Liguria. We therefore consider ourselves Anglo -Italian.We still maintain the family home tho' sadly our parents are no longer with us.My Brother and Sister live in Italy ( Parma) but having married an Irishman I don't. Nevertheless we visit often and we shall be in Italy again next week.
