I need to know how I can get an email address to work through outlook express at the moment I have to go online through virgilio.it and try to understand how to send an email (nightmare) Help I am going mad I have 3 Italian neighbours dont speak a word of English but I suppose thats good for me no cheating with the language it is fun and frustrating at the same time trying to make myself understood Any one can solve the problem I just want to be able to email back home through my pop & smtp Help please desperate
:(
Congration on the phone line, and I've been moaning about waiting 6 weeks.
pop & smtp mail I use outlook and my Email @yahoo.com
open outlook go to TOOLS then E-MAIL ACCOUNTS then ADD A NEW EMAIL ACCOUNT OR VIEW OR CHANGE EXSITING E-MAIL ACCOUNTS then click CHANGE
incoming mail server (POP3) "POP.MAIL.YAHOO.COM"
outgoing mail server (SMTP) "SMTP.MAIL.YAHOO.COM"
if your email ends with @virgilio.it then try POP.MAIL.VIRGILIO.IT, SMTP.MAIL.VIRGILIO.IT
Yahoo and hotmail do charge for this service I think it was £11.

If you get a temporary email address (web based) such as hotmail or yahoo and PM me your address I can invite you to gmail.com which does not charge for POP/SMTP access as Trulli and I both use it - the benefit is that you can get to your email via outlook as shown above by libero also you can see it anywhere around the world via the web interface. If you have an email of anysort you can still get to let me know and we can get it sorted for you

I have had the same problems. It took five months to get the phone installed and it is such an awful connection that I have asked my contacts not to send more than one photo at a time as the connection breaks regularly. I was very lucky with our Engllish speaking geometra and his family otherwise I think I would still be with carrier pigeons! Am trying to fix the international calls offer on the 187.it telecom site at 10euros per month for unlimited calls, as we have family in USA and europe.. Has anyone else tried it? Seems too good to miss.
I appreciate you might find this a bit difficult if your Italian isn't up to much, but you could get yourself a free @tin.it address (somewhere on the evil www.187.it site) or an @libero.it address on www.libero.it, or from Tiscali www.tiscali.it. Tiscali may be the easiest site to use, 187 is not easy at all!!
Be aware that for some reason a lot of spam filters don't accept mail from some of these addresses (apparently it is the .it they don't like!) and if you need to contact aol subscribers you may have difficulties - so it is always worth having a hotmail account (though I agree it is much more convenient to use Outlook Express!) for the odd emergency.
Good luck - hope you are in contact with the rest of the world soon, and the weather can only get better :) :)
