3420 Lavender Fields vs La Porta Verde

I took the decision to soft-delete all of today's posts on the following thread; http://www.italymagazine.com/forums/property-sales-rental-advice/3087-non-registered-estate-agent.html and to close the thread. Apart from the reasons that I gave on the thread itself, it is clear both from the content of Lavender's posts and the general tone of them that she has reached a point of desperation and I feel that she badly needs some protection, to say nothing of a good night's sleep. I was very reluctant to do this since, as an aquaintance of Graham Lane's, I might be accused of trying to protect him. I hope I've reached this decision independently of any interest I may have, but I would appreciate the input of Ronald and the moderating team.

In an previous post (I think it was in one of my replies to LF's thread) I did say that in fairness the other party should be given the opportunity to respond.

I had a chance to speak to Graham Lane at Dolce Vita and he said that since they were already proceeding down the legal route they felt it would be inappropriate to participate in a war of words on a public forum. Fair comment!

It would appear that Graham has been dragged into this one and because of LF's desparate tones, the thread has escalated into what it is. The fact that you are aquainted with Graham could be seen as a conflict of interest, but I suppose anyone could argue the same about me since I've met him a couple of times.

I think it was time to close the thread!

I am at a bit of a loss on this one Marc, Ronald had posted that GL should give his side of the story, LF reponded too, I had many PM's from her yesterday and had actually told her that she should leave it to the legal process, and that if she posted, I would edit should she break the forum rules, it was a tough call for you to make, you have my support.

I've had a chance to speak to Graham this morning and sent him the text of Lavender's posts (he didn't read them before they were deleted) If he wants them to be reinstated, and to have his right to reply, he will contact Ronald. If that were to happen, I think at the very least, the posts should be moved to a new thread.

I reminded Graham of two of the problems facing him; that it would be difficult to vindicate his company without breaking the rules of confidentiality under which good estate agents operate, and that, unlike newspapers and tv, stuff written on the Forum tends to lurk around for a long time, and get indexed by Google etc., so the damage to his business could be greater by leaving the posts than by deleting the whole issue.

Graham has said that his company is taking legal action against Lavender; part of his reason for wanting the threads reinstated is to provide evidence. It may also be that part of Lavender's reason for publicly declaring bankruptcy is to put La Porta Verde off sueing her. I think it would be better if the Forum didn't get involved in these manoevers at all.

Hi guys,

Haven't yet checked out the latest replies but was tempted to close it late last night.

We'll have to wait & see how GL wants to go about it now, I guess ...

I agree with you, Marc, that we shouldn't get into the line of fire between the two sides. Also, anything printed on here could be shown in Court, meaning Italy Mag could be unwittingly dragged into the whole affair.

Both have had their say & I think people can make up their own minds and question both if they're interested in doing business with GL.

Have had a couple of hellish days at work, so I'm ready to read some confrontational stuff now... :D

Here's something I found on the Expats forum... not very nice, is it??!!! Stirring trouble unnecessarily...

You may find it interesting that I was told there was an interesting post on the Italy Mag Forum & despite being logged in, It locked me out. When I tried to complain on the Introduction thread, my message became hidden.

Why don't they want me to respond?

This is all extremely complicated - wish I was a research fellow back at Southampton Uni writing papers on artificial agent societies rather than trying to manage this forum one :-)

LOL Ronald!! :D

I think we could do with a psychiatry student ... there must be research students out there looking for projects??

Well, there's some more background stuff here (if you got the time lol) ... I think this could be great for a novel... ;)

PS - Just saw Aliena's reply on the following page. She makes a good case I think...

I really can't be bothered Steph. she will turn out to be as big a pain in the butt on there, eventually, she will not change, so far as Lavender Field and Co. are concerned, I have always believed that if you hear both sides, the truth is probably somewhere in the middle, but, the courts are the place for that one.

Agree about the courts, George!

It's just sad how someone can turn people against each other with just telling half a story - and stirring up trouble unnecessarily.

Hope it's getting calmer on here now again. Am getting fed up with those squabbles... :(

You and me both Steph. I automatically start whistling the "Rocky" theme tune while logging on :D :D :D

I am unable to come up with a snappy response, you rule the thread Steph...:D :D
