1516 Obsessed about Carovigno Can't help it

I'm watching the webcam for the Piazza in Carovigno. It's busy and I'm amazed that someone has just parked their car in the middle of the Piazza and left it. I'm suppose to be cutting commission checks right now for a couple of my brokers, but I want to know what he is doing just leaving his car there. I'm also interested in all the people there. This is the most I've seen in the Piazza at one time. I'm fasinated by this. If I don't get back to work I may be sitting in a piazza myself begging for food, because I don't have a job. :D Not really, but shoot this is addicting!!!

I know we are probably all tired of hearing all about it - but it is that voyerism (sp) thing that we all have. Some of us have it more than others ;) Mine is a little over the top. :p

General chat about Italy

:D Peg, you gotta cut down on this honesty thing, the guy probably stopped there to grab a coffee in the bar, watching these camera's is much funnier when you are on a dial up connection as they only update every couple of minutes, so you see a person crossing a square, then suddenly a car is where they were  so you look for bodies under the car, then it disappears and somebody is eating an Ice Cream......

I'm telling you it is a sickness. I sometimes wish I didn't know about it. That has got to be funny on dial up. When I was watching and still doing so, there was a policeman and it made it look like he was skipping when he was walking. :D I really had to giggle at that one. I just don't get the stopping right in the middle of a piazza, he didn't even pull over to the side or anything. That would have been a ticket here for sure.

I need help

Peggy

Heck Peggy, so, I looked at the camera, errrm, you didn't mention it was a long car with flowers on top, errm, long enough to hold a coffin Peg. I think we're watching a funeral, errrm... whoever it was must be well respected though, lots of people there... :o

I feel horrible, is that what it is? Sh#$, I didn't know. I'm sort of giggling to myself, how disrespectful, not purposely though. :o

Oh my gosh - so sorry :(

LOL, you have nothing to be sorry about, it isn't something you've seen before, I realised what was happening quickly, but, remember, I had experience of an Italian funeral not so long ago... :)

Sweetpeg, just noticed a stage has been set up in Carovigno square, does anybody know if and when something is going to happen and what its in aid of. I can't remember if I looked at the camera yesterday or not but this is a recent erection  any info anybody..

The stage is probably for a concert tomorrow (Saturday) night. Probably a local well known group/singer, or if it is a special festa, perhaps someone a bit more famous.

It will depend what the Commune has organised and how much cash is in the coffer. This is a fairly standard stage and it's early in the season, so I doubt it will be Elvis.

Can't be, he works in our chippy...he should have warned me about that hole:mad:

You have a hole in your chippy? Why? Wouldn't you like to forget about chips and watch the camera tomorrow night?

It might be really interesting and lively in the square. If it is a concert, they are usually advertised for a 9pm start, but it could be 11pm before it gets going, if at all. But, that's Italy for you!

Thanks for the info, at a wedding reception tomorrow night so I'm going to miss it but at least others are now informed and may catch a glimse

There is activity going on this afternoon so you are correct Anestasia, it must be tonight, shame I'm going to miss it...

Looks so much different from last night ...it does look like a concert innit !

Looks like it's going to be exciting :)

You can see so much more action now that they changed the camera position.

From anyone who might know, where was the camera before ( in relation to where it is now)?

The camera is where is where it was, which is a bit unfortunate if you want to see the actual production, at it's actually looking from the back of the stage.

However, I think it will certainly still be more than worthwhile having a look at, as it will show the streetlight decorations and the people who will come to see what I now believe will be more on the lines of a theatrical/operatic production rather than a 'concert'.

I could be wrong, it might still be Elvis!

Hmm, as suspected! The square is packed, but Italians being Italians have decided to be very stubborn and not let viewers see a thing, even blinding viewers with their lights! Don't worry Paule, I'm sure there will be many more chances for you to see something spectacular thoughout the coming months. Enjoy your reception.

I thought they moved the camera, but realized when looking at the webpage that there are actually 2 cameras. The one I was looking at must me the new additional camera, because when I clicked the other camera I was looking at the original location.

Hope this helps to get a better look.

You're right! Its a bit blurry, but it could be Elvis! :D

would you believe it, the reception was a farce, we got there and the groom was pis-ed, and by the end of the night they had a blazing row, he went home and the bride went to the next door neighbour in tears with all four kids. Wish I'd stayed at home to watch the concert.....;)

Ah, a bit like almost every other wedding reception then? Your right about the cycle race this morning, it's called giro dell'Arcobaleno. There's loads of music concerts in your area this summer. In fact, you might be very surprised by who some of the artists are that will be performing, especially in July and August! ;)

Dear People and Miss
I'm webmaster of Carovigno.com
Thanks to Paula and other users

In July and August the webcam change.
The new webcam have a Video streaming and Audio

Thank's for interests

Good Bye

so who IS on in the area in July and August..or can you give us a decent web-site to get the info. Last year we missed most things as we couldn't find any decent advance info...usually the day it happened or after the event !!!!

Nothing is "confirmed" yet, but if I hear of it through the grapevine, I will let you know.

Puglia is always a hive of activity in those months. Some very famous names have performed/sang/whatever, especially in San Vito dei Normanni and Ostuni.

As you probably already know, Italian concerts are not so much the big football stadium affairs, but more of a communal get together party in the piazza, with the "famosi" very approachable afterwards for a chat or an autograph. Very laid back and far more personal in my opinion.

What type of music do you like? Is Lecce too far away for you to get to easily?

L'estate (almeno sul calendario, visto le condizioni meteo) si avvicina!

Non preoccuparti. :D

We have holiday homes on Lake Como and in Ostuni.
My taste in music is very eclectic althought the bands I have played in have been soft blues/rock Bonnie Raitt sort of stuff.
We have seen several bands in Menaggio in the piazza but no big names .The Black Sheep Blues band being the most noteable.
We also have seem some wonderful classical music played in Villa Carlotta.
So far in Ostuni we havent seen any live music apart from at the carnival. But I keep Oronzo at Cafe Centrale supplied with CDs as he has a similar taste in music to myself and my husband. So you may find yourselves listening to some of our contributions if you go there (I apologise in advance) like Roger McGuinn GeorgeThorogood George Harrison , Beatles ,Bruce Springsteen,Rolling Stones etc.I look forward to having any information anyone can provide with regard to concerts in both of my areas and please keep me posted Anastasia
Thank Tricia;)

I'm hooked on watching webcams around Lago di Garda. I know the weather there better than here. I sometimes see people having lunch, catching a few rays, strolling along etc etc. I rationalise this addiction by accepting that I'm just weak.......... :D
