I don't think you have go through a Geometra. Here's a past post and the link for the whole thread.

Cristinas' webpage is excellent for the calculation ( especially when she helps an idiot like me !!!!! )....have now sorted it all and popped along to the Post ofiice on Friday afternoon to pay it....i asked for the forms and the guy spent about 15 minutes searching ( and consulted 2 collegues) he informed me that he had no forms as it wasn't the time to pay ! ]Not really sure what to do now as we owe 2 months ( May and June) and I had wanted to pay up till December 2005 to get it out of the way.

So I am fairly sure you just go along to your post office.
Someone else told me that their post office actually worked it out for them.
I have to sort this one out when we're over in June myself.

Hi
Many people calculate the bill and pay it through the post office - the tool on www.expatsinitaly website is good but the queues at the post office may be something else!
We used a local commercialista paying €25.00 for services including payment to the Commune. I have read other postings with lower commercialista fees - so this can vary - so just ask before you commit.
Best wishes

Thanks Will, that sounds like good advice. I thought the amount I had calculated was so low in comparison to the English council tax that I might have been mistaken, but it makes good sense to check with the comune.

To update our reply last year when we were having trouble paying it !!!!
The only place we could get the payment slip was at the ICI office which in most places is in the local commune offices...but in San Vito it is NOT !!! It is on the other side of town on the first floor above the Police Station....don't ask me why !!! Caused so much confusion for me anyway !!!
Finally got the forms BUT only in December when 2nd payment due...if you want to pay outside of June or December ...apparantley you can't...at least not here !!!:
Worked ours out using the ex-pats link ( Thanks Crisitina !!):) and yes it is peanuts compared to the UK community Tax.
Next month it is time to pay again...you can either pay for 6 months and then again in December or for the whole year . The Rifiuto is also due in June.
I understand they will give us this payment slip when we go to collect the ICI one.
Don't forget with the ICI that if the house is in joint names you BOTH have to fill a form in and pay.
Once form/s completed , take it to the Post Office and join the queue !!!;)
Hope this helps !!!!

I didn't realise that about being resident
Ours was way below your lower figure , so I assume there is something in Cristinas link that gives you the option...I'll have to check when I get up my nerve to sort it out again !!!!
Quite frankly, it is unnecessarily complicated.
If I remember correctly , someone came up with a link last year where you can pay it on the internet but our town wasn't one of the communes offering this
Also we have on-line banking with our Italian Bank and in the 'pay your bills' bit, there is an ICI option BUT when I asked I was told that we could only pay at the Post Office for our Commune !! Crazy !!!:(
I have been told that the geometra that you used for buying the house is the one to speak to and he prices it and forwards it to the Commune
