3651 George

George has found allowing Aliena back into the forum under a different username unnacceptable and has decided to leave. I just wanted to say here that I found George and excellent moderator and I am sorry he has left. I am much more forgiving.

Aliena or Anastasia is clearly a troubled character but I pity her too much and I think it costs very little to allow her back as long as she behaves. After all this is a forum not a court of law. People know that punishements can and will be dealt out but as long as they behave I am not that power hungry to insist on punishements. I don't care if they think they are more intelligent than me or that they have somehow manipulated me. Clearly this forum is much more important to them in their life than it is for me so I am happy to let them in if they behave:o

Anything more excessive is simply not my nature.

Messy indeed!

I was hoping that George wouldn't go through with his threat. He and Aliena had a good few fights and in a way his reaction is understandable.

While I agree with you Ronald to keep Anastasia on board (better the devil you know!), rather than go running after her many new personas all the time, it's sad that this has led to George leaving. I still like her helpful posts and hope she won't lose it again. Maybe if we'd clarified at the start of her being banned just for how long it would be etc, in a public thread, some of this might not have happened. :(

It's interesting to see how they're now behaving in the CdC... as if nothing has happened! But I still expect another quarrel breaking out again soon between Jig/Paula and Trulli, WT etc...

I for one would prefer to be open with the members - if someone's under pre-mod or even banned, post the reason, and a fixed term duration (even for pre-mod, perhaps depending on severity of charge), so all can see!

I was hoping to email George but his details are gone...

You are right Iona. I find George's post amazing though. Way too many conspiracy theories going on in the forum!

I'll be sorry to see George go; he brought a certain 'grinta' to the moderating team and its strange that he should choose to go now... now that Aliena/Anastacia is behaving herself. God knows, I hope she doesn't feel that she can suceed in bullying Mods into resigning.

Do you plan to find another Mod, Ronald?, and if so should we be thinking of people?

hmmm... I don't know if this is the right time for another mod. I would like to choose the next mod through a public vote or referal system of some sort so I would like all the fighting to quiet down before I do that.

I am a bit shocked by George - I thought I had made it clear that most things are pure conspiracy theories but he seems to have not only believed what other people told him but he had a couple of theories up his own sleeve as well. Oh well...

Ronald, one thing I have noted about George is that he can lose his rag every so often as well. I suspect he was quite angry when he wrote that post so would not read overmuch into it. Hopefully once he has cooled down a bit he will think about returning.

The conspiracy theory bit is interesting - I always think I am missing a heck of a lot of what goes on here because I cannot detect these patterns or alliances.

Well, apparently there have been PMs going back & forth between them some time ago which turned nasty... hence his memory of her misdemeanors.

I'd be very careful about public nominations - I'm still watching the 'two tribes' and wouldn't want a new mod who's on 'one' side, which in turn could cause another outcry.

Hopefully someone neutral would win...

It could be a bit like holding elections in Iraq! My worry is that the extremists would be keen to vote 'their' people into office, whilst the moderates may be too indifferent to vote at all.

Perhaps it would be an idea to solicit canditates, then have them voted into office for a certain period; say 6 months. If the hoi-polloi don't like the decisions they make, then they can change them. In any event, Ronald has the final sanction. A bit like the Queen, God bless 'er.

Yup, my very sentiments, Marc. I worry too that regular moderate members maybe can't be bothered with all this hassle ... remains to be seen, I think. I like your idea for any newly elected mods having a 'probationary' period ... ;)

I'm also worried about the developments on the CdC about letting Aliena in as herself as her second persona is illegal. I don't think they give up easily on that one. Frank laid that trap neatly! :(

Don't know what you think but might it be an idea to take her back on board (for recent 'good' behaviour, even if I'm uneasy about her 'war' on moderation), but still under pre-moderation for, say, another month or two and see what happens? Delete all her other personas & if she behaves, it's fine ... but if she misbehaves again, make it public...

Is it just me who feels somehow blackmailed??? :(

Blackmail is the right word Iona. You can premoderate her all you like but she will always be able to come back. Aliena is with AOL the biggest service provider in the world - it is very hard to trace her IP!

I don't want to discuss Aliena/Anastasia anymore and just let her behave as a new member. The next time she blows a public warning will be made and she will be palced in pre-mod and a new account will no doubt be created and that will be deleted and then a new account created ad infinitum. There is no winning! So better keep her out in the open and busy - she really can be useful at times she is simply unstable!

This reminds me of some of the dross which is developed in management theory...power and politics in and around organisations.

There is clearly some history between George and Aliena, but we must move on. Let's see what happens.

PS...Ronald, I never did get your reply to my e-mail (nothing to do with Aliena)

Marc had promised to do something about the pictures... write a guide. Marc if you can't manage then I will do it although I would rather you did because your view is more of a user's point of view

~big sigh of relief~

Now it's time to look at more of CJ's beautiful Marche piccies... :)
