3662 using a Mc to connect to web in Italy

Just moved to Italy and was told by TIM I couldnt use their EDGE service to connect to net via my mobile because, as usual, the sw is for windows only. Any answers out there? I've got a landline in Lago d'Orta, no Broadband here.

Since you only have landline dial-up, give this portal a try; access free, only pay for phone call. Have used it (on a Mac) for a month or so and always got on line at around 45k and so far not been bumped off-line.

thanks for the tip. Got off my awful AOL dial up and now using this Infinito service. Much better and probably much cheaper! Do you know how much it is each hour or so. Sorry but my Italian is crap and can find the cost on the website.

The Infinito web portal usage is purportedly free. You just get billed for your telephone call. Only used it a month or so, and the telly bill gets sent to the bank, so will not know how much the telly charges are until we return in July and get a bank statement. If it is just a local call, should be comparatively inexpensive. The forum 'veterans of the phone wars" might have some info on the phone tariffs. Would also recommend trying Skype for internet phone calls. They have a new promotion going on right now to attract more users.

Has anyone tried using this software with a MAC and a prepaid card, like what is offered by TIM? I had a look at the site and it seems it will only support contract situations. Would be interested to know if anyone has tried it and knows any different.
Thanks
