Hi
We also used Pickfords in Sept 2003 and they were great. Full packing service, 2 houses!! and arrival to suit our house purchase completion.
Lorry arrived to the minute we had requested!!
If Chris (sorry don't know his surname is still with them - request him!)

We did the move last year by hiring a van. very stressful but cost much less.
Felicity, we put all our non fragile stuff, which comprised the bulk of the volume of our move into boxes and sent freight as a part load on a 40ft trailer, it was very inexpensive ( £500 ish for our load) and quick, 3 days approx....I cannot remember the company name but there are dozens of these companies going from adriatic coast to UK on a weekly basis.
Will, given that in the last two days I've been quoted £3,000 and £4,000 (plus VAT) to move my household goods from Scotland to Abruzzo, I would be very interested to know how much stuff you had and what firm you used.

Thats cheap, the cheapest quote I got when we moved was 5K. My move was for a 4 beroomed house Essex to le Marche.

We're thinking of paring our belongings down to the absolute minimum so we can get away with a part shipment in a container. Anyone recomend any companies?

Thank you for that, Will.

Hi,
We moved from the north of England to southern Le Marche late last year. Used a specialist continental removal company we found on the internet... Removal Group (www.removalgroup.com). Cost us around £1000 + vat for 15 cubic metres. Excellent service .... highly recomended.

Hi There,
I'm considering moving household items to our holiday home in Puglia, did you encounter any problems with customs? I heard you have to have an inventory of everything in english and italian..can you advise?
Silvio
I think it depends on how much hassle you want to put up with. Many years ago we did the same move from UK to Italy, and got three quotes, Pickfords were the cheapest.....(yes, it was a bit of a surprise they came in so low!)......and totally professional, to the extent of happily complying with our time scale so that we could drive ourselves to Italy to be ready for their arrival, rather than having to race the removal truck down, or take a plane.
