We have already spoken about and seen that 1/4 of Italy's shoe production is from Le Marche and also in the musical instrument field they are amongst the world leaders.

Other famous names which are linked to high quality luxury items are:
Poltrona Frau based in Tolentino and producers of luxury leather armchairs and sofas.

The Merloni Group now called Indesit and who own 15% of the European market shares in electrical appliances.
Brand names of the group include, Ariston, Hotpoint and Scholtes. Not bad for a small company near Fabriano who started in 1930 by making scales and hot water heaters and now one of the top 3 European companies in the industry.

Scavolini and Berloni both based in Pesaro and who started in the 1960's fitting kitchens and now world leaders in quality and design in kitchens, bathrooms and furniture making.
Berloni has also founded the Berloni Foundation based in Villa Americi in Pesaro and from where the genetic disease thalassaemia has a centre dedicated to raising funds and doing research into this disease with funding being sent worldwide to set up and run clinics to care from those suffering from its effects.
