3792 A beer that refreshes the parts that other beers cannot reach?

People moan about the Euro and how prices have doubled since its introduction, but I recently read a news item concerning a tourist and a $ 1,251 glass of beer that had to make me laugh. The doubling of prices is nothing compared to this.

This is what it said:

“A tourist was flabbergasted when he was charged $1,251 – for a beer. The Hong Kong man – who was travelling by himself - received the huge bill for a drink he bought in a bar in Rome, Italy. He had been invited into the drinking establishment by a tout, who served him the alcoholic beverage then told him what it would cost. He managed to barter it down, but the bar owner allegedly ended up whipping the full amount off his card anyway. The man said: “When the bill arrived I thought it was safer to pay it. I was scared something could happen to me.”

Just as well that he was travelling alone; otherwise it would have been an expensive round.
I wonder how they managed to come up with the figure of 1,251:

Beer: $ 1
Service: $250
$ 1,000: Just for the privilege of being in Rome

Or could it be that he was given a Perroni Nastro Azzurro, which according to some advertising blurb, just happens to be Italy’s “new authentic designer beer label”? :D

I read a similar article to this Charles, but the version I read placed the 'innocent tourist' in a rather bright red light district and while inside the clip joint.. he invited two ladies to join him.. who only drank Champagne.. so perhaps it wasn't only the beer he enjoyed!

:D :D

In that case then perhaps the beer he drank really did refresh the parts that other beers cannot reach...:D

Infact he was from Hong Kong living in Germany and so had no excuse to say he wasn't used to the euro zone.
He had either gone willingly or been conned into going into a sex bar and for the pleasure of company was slapped a heavy bill.
When I read it my initial reaction was------yeh more to this than meets the eye!!!!
If he was innocent he would have called the police before parting with his cash.
Designer beer------aaaaaagh it's like water.Che schifo!!!!

Yep...he should have known better! Not a mistaka to maika!

Perhaps Armani and Versace et al should diversify and create their own brand of authentic designer beer...

If only he would have revealed his true intentions in the first place...could have sold him some of this cheese at 1000 euro per Kg:D

I am reliably informed that the Champagne is in fact analcolico - which sounds much worse than it is.:D
