3794 Devo portare un fegato con urgenza!!!!!

One of the nice things about being "una straniera" , bionda, and living in a small village is being able to talk your way round the locals and even get the local police to do what you want!!!!
This morning I had been shopping and was in a rush to get home in time for lunch.
Got to approx 100 metres from my turning and the road was closed as a never ending bike race was in progress.
You know the kind where 2 bikes pass at 50 minute intervals but you need 10polizia and 20 CC to block the road!!!! Blue lights flashing and all trying to look terribly in control!!!
I overtook the long line of traffic and pulled over to the row of shops on the other side. Got out bought some cigs and that had got me to the top of the traffic jam and also into a better position to negotiate with the boys in blue!!!
" Mi scusi" I shout to them and 3 come over to the car.
"Devo portare un fegato con urgenza a Gradara e con sto caldo ho paura che mi andrà male"
You should have seen their faces"
"Un fegato signora ma cosa sta dicendo Lei"?????
"Si sul serio un fegato" I said with my straightest face!!!!
Pulling over my shopping I opened the butchers bag and showed them the liver I had just bought for lunch!!!
They were speechless and then burst out laughing.
One of them muttered "Mi sa che sta bionda ci ha presso per il ****"!!!!
"Noooooooooo mai" I smiled back!!!
It worked and I was allowed to pass!!!!
When I think back had I tried that in Glasgow I would have ended up behind bars.
That's one of the things I love about Italy----bending the rules!!!!
