3800 needing info for lake garda. sites.

I have convinced my in laws to fly out to lake garda for a week over the august bank holiday.
We normally choose this time of year,as its the end of the high season and the prices drop on the caravan/tourist villages, everywhere in Italy.

I seem to have jumped the gun,by assuming i could get a maxi caravan or chalet on one of the sites around lake garda for around 60 euros a night, not
been a problem b4, when it was the 4 of us, to find somewhere for 45/50 euros.
Alas this time there are 5 of us,and am struggling to find anywhere yet that
does not want 80 euros or more![yes i know i an being tight]

Need to find somewhere quick, as they have booked the flights to bergamo
[£100 for two] flying out on sunday 27th august, we should arrive on the 25/26, as i will drive there.

any info on sites around the lake would be helpfull,as i know it should not be
a problem finding a place for 60 euros a night, but maybe i have lost the knack.

Gianni..

Shame on you.. what has happened to your haggling skills? :D

Call the site you want to go to.. tell them you are a poor man who has been forced to take the in laws on a trip.. they will sympathise.. and reduce the cost. ;)

with my poor Italian, and napolitain accent! they will have me down as a peasent [which i am] and decline to offer me anything.

Usually if there is any conversation to take place, i call on my younger
brother, who spent 4 months in brescia when he was 17,and talks like a
native of that area! Infact the git talks down to me and our parents, just
like a true northerner!!!

That's the whole idea.. let them think you are a proud contadino who works the land from dawn til dusk.. for 'tis these same peasants that tend the vine and press the olive.

Do you think Italians do not know and respect this? Where would all Italy be without peasants?

To be a proud contadino di Napule o Campania.. guarantees a discount!

:D :D

on a totally different subject, Lago di Garda has terrific olive oil on the Western side of the lake.

To be more precise, Olive Oil from that area is one of the best... ;)

Have you searched the net?
pescara butterfly camp do cheap rates and bardalino has a camp with canvas camping tents on site, might be worth a look
we have arrived without booking before even in July/Aug when the Italians are taking their hols and no problem getting tent/caravan/chalet for a reasonable charge. You could always book for 4 and there might be room for 5! I just love Lake Garda!

thanks for the replies. God this has been hard work!
Sent off over 75 emails, and have so far recieved almost 30 back.
Some thought i had won the lotto! most were full! even though the high
season would be finished.

At the moment the best price is 420 euro,s, which i think is fair, but hoping
to get a few more replies and quickly as there website really doesn't show
much.
Wondering if i am being reasonable,to expect so much for so little money.
having said that,i know it wouldn't be too much of a problem in tuscany.

Isn't that sopposed to be the expensive place?
