3892 abruzzo statistics

i visited the other new forum ... i do pop in from time to time and noticed someone posting this..... it seems that there are more hosuse sale problems in abruzzo to foreign buyers... than anywhere else in Italy... now maybe some of you that are members of both forums that might have an interest in this can tell me of the outcome or even post and ask why or where these statistics come from.... i wouldt be totally surprised and have a few theories to suggest

i might even have tried a poll but cannot work out the damn buttons

are foreign people that buy in abruzzo generally more stupid than other foreign buyers

it seems that italians do not have the same problem buying here so that means agencies that deal with italians are more efficient, more qualified or just more honest

or is it that italians are just more intellient than foreigners in general

how can abruzzo be the only place in italy with this distortion of statistics... because other regions have specialist foreign selling/mediating companies and who or what is to blame for abruzzos dismal showing

or is this a statistical posting from someone from another region that just doesnt feel comfortable with the fact that at the moment ... and actually for quite a long time abruzzo seems to be popular and still remains so and just is putting in a spoiling post

i suggest a combination of all the above might be apt ...but would be interested if anyone has seen this report or knows all the ins and outs from the other forum and saw a reply as to why....

the reason i dont bother joining the other one which also seems like a reasonable and joyous place is that i dont want them to have me arguing and spoiling it.... and that i have plenty of non friends here

Couldn't it be that you have answered your own question? Lots of people are buying in Abruzzo - and the more buyers,the more problems. The only meaningful statistic would concern the proportion of "dissatisfied" buyers in Abruzzo compared with this proportion in another area.

I think Abruzzo is a wonderful place.. especially the area in and around where you live in John. I am sure many others agree that it's a great place for foreign buyers.. and it keeps them safely away from all the perils of Campania. :D

Maybe its because of the C20th depopulation of the area? Foreigners are drawn to the old, often vacant and/or derelict properties, partly because of their potential/ romantic appeal, and partly because of the cost, but such properties, by their nature are fraught with difficulties.

Since many of them have not changed hands for more than a century, the ownership is often difficult to ascertain, and almost certainly split. Throw into the bargain bankrupties, illegal additions, local farmer's rights, access, services etc etc, and you're bound to run into problems that won't exist in downtown Rome or Florence.

But then we're a tight fisted bunch and for some "rural idyll €15,000" sounds too good to be true, and are apt to over look the sting in the tale "da ristrutturare"
