3934 Car Insurance for Italian Car

Can anyone give me some advice about where to go to insure an italian car. We unfortunately both had company cars when we left the UK so am not sure whether an italian insurance company will accept that as we will not be able to get confirmation of no claims discount in the same way as if we had had our own cars in the UK. Italian car insurance seems to be very expensive and if anyone can point us to a good deal we would be grateful.

thanks for the link it is very helpful! I have NCD with Direct Line pre having my company car in UK so may be worth a go.

Am I doing something wrong with the search engine on this forum. I did a search for car insurance and that thread didn't come up?!!:confused:

No, so did I but changed the words I used to 'no claims discount' or somthing like that. It's time consumiing but by using different words you can get better hits! There is sooooo much info on here when it is found! :D

Thanks for your help I will try different searches in future as I am sure many of my questions have been raised before. These forums are great but I spend way too much time on them when I should be out working in the sun!! :)

As far as we understand, you cannot register or insure a car in Italy, unless you have resident status. If anyone knows better, please tell us how!

............and you are not supposed to be able to buy a car here without residency as well.:) although it is possible if you are in the process of applying for residency......:D
