The Alpine town of Cortina d’Ampezzo [Veneto] will be holding its first Eurochocolate Festival from Thursday 16th – Sunday 19th December and the organisers are determined to merge the themes of winter sports and chocolate. The Festival slogan is,
“Una settimana a Cortina, bianca, latte o fondente?” [“A week in Cortina – white, milk or dark?”]
Skiers will be able to enjoy a cup of thick chocolate in the various refuges before setting off and there will be a special ski race with a chocolate theme. There will also be a chocolate curling event and a chocolate slalom race.
In the town centre the Audi Palace will host the Chocomarket, with stalls offering tastes and selling chocolate products from all over the world. There will be exhibitions, educational events for children, a chocolate spa and opportunities to try out chocolate beauty products.
We think these are very good reasons to head for Cortina d’Ampezzo, even if you do not like skiing!
