Last Wednesday, Ferrari revealed its newest creation to the public. The F12Berlinetta is the Italian company’s fastest road car yet to come out of Maranello, a town in Emilia-Romagna just 18km from Modena and home to both Ferrari S.p.A since the early 1940s and the Scuderia Ferrari Formula One racing team.

The F12Berlinetta will replace the successful 599 model and will officially debut at the 82nd International Motor Show in Geneva from 8th-18th of March.

The new model is the first of a new generation of V12-powered cars. The vehicle’s 6262cc V12 engine with 740 horsepower enables it to accelerate from 0 to 100kph in just 3.1 seconds and 0 to 200kph in 8.5 seconds with a maximum speed of 340kph. The car registered a lap on Ferarri’s test track in Fiorano at 1 minute 23 seconds, breaking the record to become Ferrari’s fastest-ever road car.

Ferrari described the new engine as, “incredibly efficient - in terms of mechanical, combustion and fluid-dynamics efficiency - which, together with advanced vehicle architecture, aerodynamics, components and electronic controls, guarantee unsurpassed driving involvement whatever the road or track”. In addition, the company has reduced fuel consumption by 30% while its CO2 emission also came in low at 350 g/km, placing the new model at the top of the high-performance line.

Ferrari has not yet quoted the price of the F12Berlinetta.
