An Italian priest has been convicted of sexually abusing a parishioner near this northern lakeside town.
Father Mauro Stefanoni received an eight-year jail term for abusing the unidentified ex-parishioner, who is slightly handicapped and was a minor at the time of the offences.
Father Stefanoni's lawyers said he would appeal.
The victim, who told police last year he was abused in 2004, was awarded 120,000 euros in compensation.
His parents got 30,000 euros each.
Father Stefanoni, who was not present when the verdict was read out, has always protested his innocence.
Earlier this month the priest admitted in court that the bishop of Como, Msgr Alessandro Maggiolini, tipped him off when the police investigation started.
Lead prosecutor Maria Vittoria Isella told the court her investigation had been ''hampered'' at the start.
Msgr Maggiolini, who has since retired as bishop of Como, is not facing prosecution.
