The Queen Elisabeth 2 will stop in the the port of Naples for the last time on Monday as it heads towards a gilded retirement in Dubai, where it will be transformed into a floating luxury hotel.
The QE2 is the oldest ocean liner still in activity and it has been the longest-lasting flagship of Britain's Cunard Lines, having entered service in May 1969.
In its 39 years at sea, the QE2 has travelled over 10,000km, made 802 Atlantic crossings, 24 world cruises and hosted 2.5 million passengers including royalty, statesmen, pop stars and film legends.
The QE2, which left its home in Southampton, England November 11, is scheduled to arrive in Naples at 8am Monday to then leave again at 6pm.
After Naples, its final voyage will take the ship to Malta, Alexandria and Port Said.
