Italian and American law enforcement agencies have agreed to boost their collaboration to better combat transnational organizsed crime, drug trafficking, terrorism, illegal immigration and crimes commitment using information technology.
This will be done through increased cooperation between the law enforcement agences of the two countries and a greater of exchange of data and information.
The decision to reinforce collaboration was made here during the third meeting of the Italy-USA bilateral subcommittee which saw the participation of 55 delegates from American law enforcement agenies and 22 from Italian ones.
The sub-committee was created based on agreements reached between Italy and the US and it first met in Rome in 2004 and then in Miami in 2005.
The American delegates were from the FBI the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the United States Marshals Service, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Department of Justice and the US Secret Service.
The Italian delegates represented the national police force, the Carabinieri military police, the Finance Guard and the justice ministry.
