I would try your luck and check in normally. I made a spelling mistake with my name once and they said it was ok and didn't make me pay any extra as they said it was obviously me. If they make you pay, you can always do this at the airport as you check in, but you may be ok....

I always give my name as Rod an abbreviation of my full name when booking with Ryanair and have never had a problem as yet. I think as long as it is obviously an abbreviation and not a nick name they will accept it.

I always book James for the men in our family - both hubby and son have James as their first names, although that is not the name they are generally know by. Means either of them could use the ticket - neat.

" Failure to present valid photo-ID [U]matching the names on your reservation will result in your being refused check-in."[/U]
Maybe better to try and check directly with Ryanair
